Our prediction for this MLS match:
All eyes will be on Children’s Mercy Park when Sporting Kansas City and Los Angeles Galaxy lock horns in a highly-anticipated MLS game. The Wizards aim to remain undefeated in the new MLS campaign and they must be high on confidence following a 2-1 win over San Jose Earthquakes. Mexico striker Alan Pulido should keep his place up front after opening his goal-scoring account against the Earthquakes, while all Johnny Russell, Andreu Fontas, Ozzie Cisneros, Khiry Shelton, and Logan Ndenbe remain in the recovery room.
LA Galaxy, on the other hand, are undefeated in the 2024 MLS campaign as well and, taking everything into account, we believe that there is a big value in betting on draw. A man to keep an eye on in the away team will be Serbia attacker Dejan Joveljic, who has already opened his goal-scoring account, while experienced defender Martin Caceres misses out through suspension. Fellow defender Jalen Neal is sidelined with an abdominal problem.
Highlighted Player (Martin Caceres):
Martin Caceres is a widely travelled and well known Uruguayan professional footballer who plays for Juventus. Primarily a central defender, Caceres is known for his tenacity, pace, strength, tackling and aerial ability. He is versatile and can operate as full-back on either sides too. Caceres started his career at Defensor Sporting and became a regular at a very young age.
In 2007, he went to Spanish side Villarreal but never officially appeared for them. He then was snapped up by Barcelona in 2008 for a reported transfer fee of € 16.5 million. But his only season at the Camp Nou was marred with injuries and moved to Juventus in 2012 via a short stop at Sevilla.
Caceres made his full senior team debut in 2007 and was a successful member of the team that won the 2011 Copa America. He also played at the 2014 World Cup and has 68 national caps to his credit.
Highlighted Team (Sporting Kansas City):
Sporting Kansas City have been competing in Major League Soccer since 1996 and they won their first MLS Cup trophy in 2000. The club faced Chicago Fire at Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium in Washington in the play-offs final and Miklos Jon Molnar scored the winner for Bob Gansler’s team. 13 years later Sporting Kansas City met with Solt Lake in the title game and they were fortunate to defeat the Royals on penalties.
The Wizards welcome their rivals at Children’s Mercy Park, but they used to play some games at Blue Valley Sports Complex, Julian Field, Hermann Stadium and Durwood Soccer Stadium in the past as well. Sporting Kansas City were founded in 1995 and the club’s original name was Kansas City Wiz.
The Wizards wear navy blue shirts and dark blue shorts when playing at home, while the colour of their away kit is blue. Former Wigan Athletic man Roger Espinosa is regarded as one of the club’s most notable players and he has been playing for the Children’s Mercy Park outfit since 2015.
