Our prediction for this Premier League match:
After surviving Nottingham Forest at the City Ground, Chelsea will be aiming to climb to the Conference League berth when they take on Brighton in a postponed Premier League fixture. The Blues have been producing excellent displays in the season finale and they are likely to stick to their attacking style of play against Brighton. All Enzo Fernandez, Carney Chukwuemeka, and Ben Chilwell remain in the recovery room, while Raheem Sterling is pushing for a rare start after scoring as a substitute against the Reds.
The Seagulls, on the other hand, have little to play for in Wednesday’s clash, which is probably the main reason why we are going to bet on the capital club. In the first half of the season Chelsea defeated Brighton 3-2 at Stamford Bridge, which goes in favour of our earlier prediction. Joel Veltman should be fit for the midweek clash despite limping off with injury in a 1-1 draw with Newcastle United.
Highlighted Player (Thiago Silva):
Brazilian defender Thiago Silva is one of the highest rated defenders in world football. Having emerged from Fluminense youth ranks, the 31-year-old defender established himself as a world-class performer while plying his trade for AC Milan from 2009 to 2012.
Having largely contributed to Rossonerri’s title winning campaign in 2010-11, Thiago Silva moved to Paris Saint-Germain together with Zlatan Ibrahimovic for a reported fee worth €42 million, which made him then second-most expensive defender in football history after Rio Ferdinand.
Silva was an immediate success at the French club, helping Les Parisiens win four consecutive Ligue 1 titles in the process. Heavily linked with a move away from Parc des Princes, fan favourite Thiago Silva remains a key figure at Paris Saint-Germain and a leader of the new wave under head coach Unai Emery. Having already surpassed the 100-game mark for the French giants, Thiago Silva is slowly writing his name in the history books of Paris Saint-Germain.
Highlighted Team (Brighton):
Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club were formed in 1901. The Seagulls welcome their opponents at Falmer Stadium and the capacity of Brighton’s home ground is 30,750. The stadium was built in 2008 and it was opened in 2011. The venue is known for commercial purposes as American Express Community Stadium.
Brighton & Hove Albion compete in the Premier League and they play in blue and white stripes. The colour of Brighton’s away kit is green. The club made it to the FA Cup final in 1983, but English giants Manchester United proved to be a big catch for the Red Devils.
Brighton’s main rivals are Crystal Palace and the Seagulls have recorded 35 wins over the Eagles. Frank Stapleton, Martin Chivers, Joe Corrigan, Bobby Zamora, Mark Lawrenson, Bobby Smith, John Crumplin and Frank Worthington are notable footballers who played for Brighton in the past. The Albion is Preston’s yet another nickname.
