Our prediction for this Segunda Division match:
All eyes will be on Estadio Municipal de Butarque when Leganes and Elche lock horns in the last game of the regular season. Leganes have been having their ups and downs of late, with the team losing to Albacete, beating Gijon, while sharing the spoils with Ferrol. Even though there are no fresh injury worries in the home team, Juan Cruz should sneak into the starting XI. Anyhow, the hosts are likely to adopt a cautious approach in Sunday’s clash as they are only one point away from securing automatic promotion.
Los Franjiverdes, on the other hand, failed to win the previous five league matches. Considering that Elche missed out on a spot in the playoffs, we are tempted to place our bets on the capital club. Defender John Donald is unlikely to be risked after limping off with injury in a 2-1 loss to Eldense, while all Febas, El Ghezouani, and Nunez are pushing for a start.
Highlighted Player (Allan Nyom):
After playing amateur football in his homeland France, Allan Nyom began his professional career at Arles-Avignon. The pacey full back made 37 appearances for the club in the 2008/2009 season and at the end of the campaign he signed a deal with Serie A side Udinese. However, given the great collaboration between Udinese and Granada, he was immediately sent on loan to the Estadio Nuevo los Carmenes outfit.
Granada finished the 2009/2010 season in top position in the Segunda Division and, as a result, they secured automatic promotion to the Spanish top flight. Allan Nyom established himself as a first-team regular and it has to be noted that he made 32 appearances for los Granadinos in the 2011/2012 La Liga campaign. After spending five seasons at Granada, Nyom joined Watford in 2015 and he moved to fellow Premier League side WBA at the end of the season.
The WBA defender represents Cameroon on the international stage and he made his debut for Les Lions Indomptables on November 11, 2011.
Highlighted Team (Elche):
Established in 1923, Elche is a Spanish club that competes in La Liga. Los Franjiverdes welcome their rivals at Estadio Manuel Martinez Valero, the stadium which can hold up to 33,732 spectators. The venue was opened on September 8, 1976.
Elche wear white shirts with green stripe and white shorts when playing at home, while black is the dominant colour of their away jersey. The club’s biggest success came in 1969 as Elche made it to the Copa del rey final. Los Franjiverdes faced Club Atletico de Bilbao in the Spanish Cup final, with the Basques winning the match by one goal to nil.
The likes of Mario Pasalic, Ivan Bolado, Garry Rodrigues, Goran Djorovic, Albert Nadj, Wakaso, Moha, Carlos Sanchez, Ioan Andone, Enzo Roco, Dominique Malonga, Richmond Boakye, and Sory Kaba are some of the notable players who were part of the team in the past. Elche have never represented Spain in European competitions.
