Rayo Vallecano
There will be fireworks when Getafe and Rayo Vallecano lock horns in a small Madrid derby on Saturday evening. Los Azulones produced a fine display in their La Liga opener, with the team holding Athletic Club to a draw at San Mames, but they do not want to stop now. Even though Uruguay midfielder Mauro Arambarri suffered an injury at the weekend, home win should be considered as former Barcelona man Carles Alena seems like an adequate replacement.
Los Vallecanos, on the other hand, did well to beat Real Sociedad in San Sebastian in the opening match of their Primera Division campaign, but it has to be noted that the Basques were without several first-team regulars in the Reale Arena clash. Given Getafe’s excellent performance in Bilbao, home win should definitely be considered. The likes of Raul de Tomas and Diego Mendez miss out with injuries for the visiting team.

A central defender who can equally be deployed as a right-back, Djene Dakonam has emerged as one of the most influential Getafe players in the 2017/18 season. His road to prominence was a long one, however, and Djene had to bide his time in order to be recognized for quality he undoubtedly possesses. Dapaong-born Togolese international, Djene Dakonam made his first football steps as a youth member of Etoile Filante.
Spells in Benin and Cameroon with Tonnerre d’Abomey and Coton Sport, respectively, saw Djene Dakonam grab attention of Alcoron, who moved in to bring him to Spain in 2014. During two years in Spain Djene Dakonam made 59 league appearances before moving to Sint-Truidense. It was in Belgium that Djene Dakonam proved his defensive versatility and Getafe came calling the very next year, in 2017.
Djene proved to be an instant hit with the Azulones and is hoping a move to one of Europe’s biggest clubs will not be too far away for him. The likes of Arsenal and Tottenham have been sniffing around him during the summer transfer window in 2018 but were ultimately scared off by his £31 million release clause.

Rayo Vallecano is a Spanish football club from the Valleas neighbourhood in Madrid and are founded in the year 1924. The club is playing in the Primera Division since 2011 after being in active in the lower divisions for a longer period of time. Rayo Vallecano currently plays it’s home games in the Teresa Rivero Stadium which is also known as the Nuevo Vallecas stadium and holds a capacity of 15 500 seats. The Nuevo Vallecas stadium is one of the smallest ones in the Primera Division. The club colors of Rayo Vallecano are white and red and is also known as Los Vallecanos. Rayo Vallecano is known for it’s ultra’s which are radical left winged political sided.
In the clubs history Rayo Vallecano never won any big prizes. The biggest achievement was in 2000 when the club qualified for the UEFA Cup after winning the Fair Play spot. Rayo Vallecano was one of the biggest surprises in Europe that season and even managed to get to the quarter finals where Rayo got eliminated by Deportivo Alaves.
