Our prediction for this Nations League match:
Belgium will be aiming to make a flying start to their UEFA Nations League campaign when they face Israel at Nagyerdei Stadion. The Belgians were not at their sharpest at EURO 2024 and, no doubt, they want to make amends for the unsuccessful campaign. Julien Duranville has earned his first cap for the Belgian national team, while Romelu Lukaku has been left out of the squad. Galatasaray winger Dries Mertens has been omitted as well, but the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Jeremy Doku, and Lois Openda made the cut.
Israel, meanwhile, did well to crush Belarus 4-0 in their last warm-up game, but they will have a much bigger fish to fry in Friday’s clash. As Ran Ben Shimon’s men are on a four-game losing run in meetings with Belgium, home win should be considered. Leeds United winger Manor Solomon has been left out of the squad despite overcoming his long-term injury, while Crvena Zvezda goalkeeper Omri Glazer is unlikely to be risked.
