Our prediction for this Serie A match:
Buoyed by a 3-0 win over Genoa, Juventus will be aiming to overtake Napoli in top position when they face Cagliari in Sunday’s matinee. The Bianconeri have been producing fine displays under new boss Thiago Motta and they must be high on confidence following a 3-0 win over Genoa. A man to keep an eye on in the home team will be Dusan Vlahovic, who scored a brace at the weekend, while both Timothy Weah and Vasilije Adzic remain in the recovery room as well as Poland striker Arkadiusz Milik.
The Sardinians, on the other hand, aim to build on a 3-2 win over Parma, but given their seven-game losing run in Turin, we believe that there is a big value in betting on “the Old Lady”. As attacking duo Leonardo Pavoletti – Gianluca Lapadula remains on the sidelines, the visitors are expected to struggle in front of goal.
Highlighted Player (Weston McKennie):
After starting his youth career at FC Dallas, Weston McKennie moved to Germany in the summer of 2016, signing a contract with Bundesliga side Schalke 04. The American footballer made his Bundesliga debut on May 20, 2017, coming as a substitute in the 77th minute of the match.
The talented midfielder scored his first goal in the German elite division on August 6, 2018 in a 2-0 win at Fortuna Dusseldorf. Speaking of his international career, the Schalke footballer made his debut with United States of America on November 14, 2017 in a friendly against Portugal, finding the net on his debut.
Weston McKennie has two caps for the USA U20 team as well. His main position is central midfield, but he used as both defensive and attacking midfielder as well. The USA international was born in Fort Lewis, Washington on August 28, 1998. His preferred foot is right.
Highlighted Team (Cagliari):
Cagliari are a professional football club based in Cagliari, Sardinia. I Rossoblu (The Red and Blues) compete in Italian Serie A and the club’s biggest success came in 1970, when they won the national championship.
Cagliari finished the season in top position in the standings, four points clear of Juventus and it has to be noted that Luigi Riva led Cagliari to their first Serie A trophy.
I Rossoblu welcome their rivals at Stadio Sant’Elia and the capacity of the stadium is 16,000. In the 1993/1994 season Cagliari made it to the UEFA Cup semis, with the team suffering a loss to fellow Italian club Inter in the two-legged tie.
Giuseppe Pancaro helped Cagliari record a 3-2 win over Inter in the first leg, but I Rossoblu were hammered by the Nerazzurri in the second leg (3-0). Palermo are regarded as Cagliari’s main rivals and the two teams square off against each other in the Derby delle Isole.
