Our prediction for this Serie A match:
Sunday’s football game at Stadio Olimpico pits together Lazio and Empoli, the two teams with entirely different ambitions for the 2024/2025 Serie A campaign. Lazio aim to represent Italy in European competitions for yet another season, while Empoli’s main goal is to avoid relegation. The Biancocelesti have been in a fine form of late and they must be high on confidence following a 3-2 win over Torino. Barring any fresh injury worries, Marco Baroni is unlikely to make changes to the team that defeated Il Toro at the weekend.
The Azzurri, meanwhile, played out a goalless draw with Fiorentina in the Tuscan derby, but they will have a much bigger fish to fry in “The Eternal City”. As Empoli have suffered a loss in each of their last three meetings with Lazio in the Italian top flight, we are tempted to place our bets on the capital club. Defender Sasa Sazonov remains in the recovery room, while the likes of Szymon Zurkowski, Samuele Perisan, and Tyronne Ebuehi are major doubts.
Highlighted Player (Elseid Hysaj):
Born on 2nd February 1994, Elseid Hysaj is an Albanian defender who has spent his entire professional career in Italian Serie A and he is predicted a bright future in the game. Empoli scouts spotted his talent while he was playing for Shodra youth sides, and after three years in the youth team, the full-back was promoted to the first team set up.
Hysaj performed really well in his first three years as a first team regular, helping the Azzurri gain promotion to the top fight in the process. One season in Serie A proved enough for the right-sided defender to secure a big club move as he joined Napoli in the summer of 2015 and immediately nailed down a regular starting berth.
Capable of doing dirty defensive work as well as making forward runs, Hysaj is a modern full-back, who is destined for big things. The talented footballer is already a key member of the Albania national team and he will represent the country at the Euro 2016 finals.
Highlighted Team (Empoli):
Empoli FC (Empoli Football Club 1920 SpA) is an Italian football club founded in 1920 and is currently active in the Italian Serie A.
The club is playing in the Serie A since 2014/2015 and hosts its home games in the Stadio Carlo Castellani which holds a capacity of 19 847 seats. The home colors of Empoli FC are blue and white. The Empoli Ultra’s are called Rangers 1976 and are feared in Italy.
Empoli FC didn’t win any major prizes in the clubs history. The clubs biggest achievement in the history was in 2004/2005 where the club finished first in the Serie B (the second highest football division). Because of a matchfixing scandal the title was given away to Genoa CFC. Empoli FC played in the UEFA Cup once in season 2007/2008 but got knocked out in the first round by FC Zurich.
The are several famous players that played for Empoli FC like Birindelli, Bresciano, Di Natale and Luca Toni.
