Our prediction for this Championship match:
All eyes will be on Fratton Park when Portsmouth and Norwich City face each other for the first time since January 2019. Back then Portsmouth defeated Norwich 1-0 in the FA Cup, meaning that the visitors are hungry for revenge. The Pompey head into Tuesday’s clash following a convincing 3-0 win over Bristol City and a triumph over Norwich could see them escape the relegation zone. Midfielder Andre Dozzell serves a one-game ban due to the accumulation of yellow cards, while all O’Mahony, Norris, Farrell, Bowat, Williams, and Yengi remain in the treatment room.
The Canaries, on the other hand, experienced all sorts of problems at the back in a 3-0 loss to Queens Park Rangers. Norwich City obviously struggle on the road, which is probably the main reason why we are going to bet on the relegation-threatened hosts. The likes of Gibbs, Forsyth, and Sargent are injured for the away team.
Highlighted Player (Grant Hanley):
Grant Hanley is Scottish footballer who plays for Norwich City as defender. Hanley was born in Dumfries, Scotland, on November 20, 1991 and he started his youth career at Queen of the South. After ending his spells with Crewe Alexandra and Rangers, the Scottish player joined English club Blackburn Rovers, where he started his senior career.
After scoring eight goals in 183 appearances for the Riversiders in league matches, he moved to fellow English club Newcastle United in July, 2016 for an undisclosed fee. Grant Hanley, though, made no more than 10 appearances for Newcastle United in the Championship before joining Norwich City. The 191-cm-tall defender made his full international debut for Scotland against Wales on in May, 2011.
He scored his first goal for the Scotland national football team in a 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Wales. His contract with Norwich City should expire on June 30, 2021.
Highlighted Team (Portsmouth):
During Milan Mandaric’s era at the club, Portsmouth played an important role in the Premier League, with the team finishing their debut season (2003/2004) in the 13th position in the standings. The club impressed in the 2008/2009 season, with Nwankwo Kanu’s goal helping them beat Cardiff City in the FA Cup final.
As a result, Portsmouth represented England in the Europa League, with the team progressing in the group stages of the competition thanks to a win over Vitoria Gimaraes in the final qualifying round. The current club was formed in 2013, but the original amateur club was founded back in 1883. Nowadays Portsmouth host their rivals at Fratton Park, with the venue holding up to 20,620 spectators.
The likes of Sol Campbell, David James, Glen Johnson and aforementioned Nigeria international Nwankwo Kanu are considered one of the club’s most notable players. Portsmouth wear blue shirts, white shorts and red socks when hosting their rivals at Fratton Park, while wearing white and blue colours when playing on the road.
