Our prediction for this Coupe de France match:
Saint-Etienne will be aiming to make amends for a heart-breaking loss to their local rivals Olympique Lyon when they take on Rennes in the Coupe de France semis. Les Verts have been struggling in the 2019/20 Ligue 1 season, and, as a result, the team’s main goal is to avoid relegation to the French second tier. Saint-Etienne aim to save the season by booking their place in the French Cup final, and, no doubt, they will fight tooth and nail against Rennes.
Les Rouges et Noirs, on the other hand, are determined to defend their Coupe de France trophy. Rennes have defeated the likes of Amiens, Athletico Marseille, Angers, and Belfort on their way to the semis, but beating the highly-motivated hosts is easier said than done. A close encounter is on the cards at Stade Geoffroy-Guichard, and we are tempted to put our money on draw.
