Our prediction for this MLS match:
Portland Timbers and New England Revolution, the two clubs who are eyeing a place in the MLS play-offs, face each other at Providence Park on Thursday morning. Portland are level on points with seventh-placed San Jose Earthquakes ahead of the midweek fixture, but their recent form is not giving fans a reason for optimism. After suffering back-to-back defeats to the likes of DC United and New York Red Bulls, Portland played out a goalless draw with Minnesota United at the weekend, with the team extending their goalless run to three games.
The Revs aim to retain their spot in top seven in the Eastern Conference, but seeing that they failed to win previous four league games, we predict that they are going to share the spoils with Giovanni Savarese’s men at Providence Park. You should bear in mind that under 2.5 goals have been netted in four of Portland’s last five league fixtures.
Highlighted Player (Jorge Villafaña):

Jorge Villafana is an American footballer who began his senior career at Chivas USA. Villafana was born in Anaheim, California on September 16, 1989 and he played for the likes of Santa Ana DSP Juventus and Chivas USA during his youth career.
Nowadays, the American footballer plays for Portland Timbers, but it has to be noted that he made no more than eight appearances for the club in the 2018 season. In 2015, though, Jorge Villafana did well to win the MLS Cup in 2015 and three years later he clinched the Liga MX trophy (Clausura) with Santos Laguna.
Speaking of his international career, the Portland Timbers man made his full USA debut in a friendly against Serbia on January 29, 2017. Over the years Villafana has established himself as a first-choice left-back in the national team. His main position is left-back, but he is capable of playing as a left midfielder as well. The USA international has a dual citizenship (USA, Mexico).
Highlighted Team (New England Revolution):

Unlike famous NFL club New England Patriots, the Revolution have yet to win the domestic trophy. New England participated five times in the MLS Cup final, but they were more than fortunate not to lift the silverware. The Revs played their last final in 2014, with the team losing to LA Galaxy in the title game at StubHub Center. New England Revolution, though, clinched the North American SuperLiga trophy in 2008 and that is considered as the club’s biggest success.
It has to be noted that the Revs defeated Houston Dynamo on penalties in the final of the tournament. New England Revolution were founded in 1994 and Gillette Stadium is the home ground of the club. Legendary defender Alexi Lalas played for the Revolution (1996-1997) and he scored three goals for the Gillette Stadium outfit. Fellow USA ace Clint Dempsey was part of the team as well and you should know that he netted 25 goals in 71 league appearances for the club.
