Our prediction for this Ligue 1 match:
Nantes and Monaco square off against each other at Stade de la Beaujoire in the Ligue 1 round 22. Nantes suffered a 2-0 loss to Metz at the weekend, with the team extending their winless run in the national championship to twelve games. Les Canaris have been anything but impressive in front of goal of late, and we do not believe that they are capable of making life difficult for the in-form visitors.
Les Rouges et Blancs are on a four-game winning run in the French top flight, and they should take advantage of Nantes’ poor form. Despite scoring a wonder goal from the set piece in the 3-1 win over Marseille, Montenegro international Stevan Jovetic is once again likely to start from the bench. In the first half of the season Monaco defeated Nantes 2-1, which was their fifth consecutive win over les Canaris.
Highlighted Player (Anthony Limbombe):
A Belgian player of Congolese descent, Anthony Libombe is a versatile forward who is equally able to play as a winger. The talented 22-year-old began his career at Racing Genk in 2010, while he spent the last two years as a member of Dutch side NEC Nijmegen.
During a two-year spell in the Eredivisie, Anthony Limbombe made 65 league appearances for NEC scoring 21 goals during that time. Limbombe has been outstandingly impressive during the 2015-16 season when he scored 7 goals and notched 7 assists in the Eredivisie. Belgium international has long been linked with a move to English side Leeds, who followed him closely in Eredivisie, but Limbombe chose to return to Belgium in the summer of 2016 when he signed a deal with Club Brugge reportedly worth £2 million.
Anthony Limbombe is yet to make his competitive debut for his new side, but the club management has huge expectations from a young forward who could go on to be a huge revelation in the Champions League.
Highlighted Team (Monaco):
Though based in Monaco, Les Rouges et Blances – as they are commonly referred to – play their games in the French football league system. Members of the top tier Ligue 1, Monaco play their home matches at the Stade Louis II in Fontvieille in front of 18,500 people. The Principality club boasts a turbulent history, which saw Monaco reach the highest heights of both domestic and international scene, but also get relegated to the amateur leagues at the very beginnings and to Ligue 2 in 2010-11 season.
The following year AS Monaco were acquired by the Russian billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev, whose heavy investments turned the Principality club into one of the biggest spenders in Europe in 2013 and reestablishing its place among Europe’s top clubs.
AS Monaco have had notable European results in the modern football era having been runners-up in the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup in 1992 and the UEFA Champions League in 2004. One of the most successful clubs in France AS Monaco have so far won seven league titles and five Coupe de France trophies.
