Our prediction for this Segunda Division match:
Monday’s game between Zaragoza and Alcorcon will bring down the curtain on day 26 of the current La Liga 2 campaign. Thanks to back-to-back wins over Ponferradina and Malaga, Zaragoza are no longer sitting in the relegation zone, and they head into match following a 1-1 draw with Sabadell. Despite failing to convert a penalty in the 1-1 draw with Sabadell, Juan Narvaez should keep his place up front, alongside Alex Alegria.
Alcorcon, on the other hand, desperately needed a win against Logrones, and they managed to get one. However, given their poor away record in the Spanish second tier, we believe that there is a big value in betting on los Blanquillos. Guinea-Bissau midfielder Carlos Embalo, who suffered an injury in the win over Logrones, is unlikely to feature against Zaragoza. In the first half of the season los Blanquillos crushed los Alfareros 3-0.
Highlighted Player (James Igbekeme):
James Igbekeme is a Nigerian footballer who plays for Zaragoza in La Liga 2 as a winger. Igbekeme’s primary position is central midfield, but he is capable of producing fine displays as a left midfielder as well.
The Nigeria international started his senior career at Portuguese club Ribeirao, and after scoring two goals in 43 appearances for Os Ribeirenses, he moved to fellow Portuguese outfit Gil Vicente. In 2018 he decided to move to Spain, signing a four-year deal with Zaragoza. The 170-cm tall footballer made his Zaragoza debut on August 19, 2018 in a 2-1 win over Rayo Majadahonda.
He scored his first goal for the club in a 4-0 win at Real Oviedo on September 8, 2018. Igbekeme’s preferred foot is left, and his contract with los Blanquillos should expire on June 30, 2023. The Zaragoza midfielder born in Lagos on July 4, 1995 has yet to receive a call-up for the Nigeria national football team.
Highlighted Team (Alcorcon):
Founded on July 20, 1971, Alcorcon have been competing in Segunda Division since the 2010/11 season. Los Alfareros welcome their rivals at Santo Domingo, the stadium opened in 1999. The venue has the capacity of 5,100 people. Alcorcon have made it to the Segunda Division playoffs on several occasions, but they have never participated in La Liga.
The club’s biggest success in Copa del rey came in the 2009/10 season when they made it to the last 16 of the prestigious competition. Alcorcon suffered a 3-2 (on agg.) loss to Racing Santander in the round of 16. The club’s home colour is yellow, while their away kit is mainly blue.
Los Alfareros played their first official game on September 8, 1971, with the team losing 2-0 to Atletico Madrid youth team. The likes of Cordoba and Leganes are regarded as the club’s main rivals, while David Rodriguez is the club’s all-time top goalscorer.
