Abbey Stadium will host Tuesday’s football game between Cambridge United and Scunthorpe United. The U’s did well to bounce back from a 1-0 loss to Cheltenham, with the team beating Port Vale thanks to Liam O’Neil’s goal. The 27-year-old midfielder is widely expected to return to the starting XI against Scunthorpe where Cambridge United are eyeing their ninth home win of the season. Paul Digby is sidelined with injury, but he should be the only absentee in the home team.
The Iron, on the other hand, suffered a dip in form in the League Two, with the team losing to both Bolton and Cheltenham Town in the previous two league fixtures. Scunthorpe are safe for now, and seeing that Cambridge United are eager to retain top position in the standings, home win should be considered. In the summer of 2012 he joined WBA youth academy, and it has to be noted that he made three appearances for the Baggies at senior level in all competitions. Liam O’Neil played for the likes of VPS and Scunthorpe United on loan as well before joining Chesterfield in 2015.
After scoring two goals in 45 appearances for the club in the league, O’Neil moved to Cambridge United in the winter of 2017. As his mother comes from Wales, O’Neil is open to play for the Wales national team, but he has yet to earn a cap with the Dragons.
