Our prediction for this Premier League match:
Buoyed by a hard-fought 1-0 win at Liverpool, Chelsea will be looking to give fans yet another reason for celebration when they welcome Everton at their Stamford Bridge on Monday. The Blues have been producing splendid displays ever since Thomas Tuchel took over the reins, and it is no wonder bookies see them as hot favourites to win the match. Timo Werner, who scored the winner against Liverpool, will be one of the men to keep an eye on in the home side.
Thiago Silva is a major doubt, while Abraham should be fit to face the Toffees, who defeated WBA in midweek thanks to Richarlison’s goal. Everton, though, will have a big fish to fry in Monday’s clash, and we do not believe that they are capable of shocking Thomas Tuchel’s troops, who are eyeing a place in the Champions League. Santi Mina remains in the recovery room, as well as Fabian Delph, but James Rodriguez has overcome his injury.
Highlighted Player (Timo Werner):
Timo Werner is a German starlet, who began his senior career at Vfb Stuttgart. The German forward, who was born in Stuttgart on March 6, 1996, scored 13 goals in 95 appearances in the league for Die Schwaben and in 2016 he moved to fellow Bundesliga side Leipzig and he impressed with the Red Bulls in the 2016/2017 Bundesliga campaign, scoring 21 goals in the process.
To make things even better for the talented attacker, he represented Germany at the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup and it has to be noted that he provided an assist for Lars Stindl in the title game. Despite the fact that coach Joachim Low rested star players at the tournament in Russia, the Germans eventually won the trophy.
Timo Werner played for the Germany U17 team as well and he won the silver medal with die Mannschaft at the 2012 UEFA European Championship. His main position is centre forward, but he is used as a winger as well. Timo Werner’s contract with Leipzig should expire on June 30, 2020.
Highlighted Team (Everton):
Everton are one of the two Merseyside giants that were formed back in 1878, with the club holding a long-standing rivalry with Liverpool. Everton have participated in the English top flight for a record 113 seasons, with the team competing in the English second tier in just four campaigns.
The Toffees play their home matches at Goodison Park, the stadium that was opened in 1892. Everton have won the national championship nine times, with the team winning their last domestic trophy back in 1987.
The Toffees have clinched five FA Cup trophies as well and it has to be noted that a victory over Manchester United in the 1994/1995 FA Cup final helped the team win their last title in the prestigious competition. Everton and Liverpool face each other in the Merseyside derby and the clash between the two local rivals has been called the Merseyside derby since 1955.
In the 2015/2016 Premier League campaign Everton were hammered by Liverpool (0-4) at Anfield.
