Our prediction for this Netherlands Eredivisie match:
Heerenveen and Twente face each other in a highly-anticipated Eredivisie clash at Abe Lenstra Stadion. Heerenveen aim to make amends for a 3-1 loss to Willem II, and we are positive that they will adopt an attack-minded approach in Friday’s clash. USA international Llanez remains in the recovery room, but he should be the only absentee in the home team.
In their last home game in the Dutch top flight, Heerenveen defeated Den Haag 3-0, which is surely giving fans a reason for optimism ahead of the visit of Twente. The Reds experienced all sorts of problems at the back in a 4-1 loss at AZ Alkmaar, which is probably the main reason why we are tempted to put our money on the home side. It has to be noted that the likes of Cerny, Hilgers, and Pleguezuelo are likely to miss Friday’s game through injuries.
Highlighted Player (Erwin Mulder):
Erwin Mulder is an experienced Dutch footballer who plays for Heerenveen as a goalkeeper. Mulder spent his youth career at R.K.P.S.C, Vitesse Arnhem, and Feyenoord, and he continued playing for the Rotterdam club at senior level.
After making 120 appearances in the Eredivisie with Feyenoord, the 193-cm-tall shot-stopper signed for Heerenveen as a free agent in the summer of 2015. It has to be noted, though, that Erwin Mulder was loaned to Excelsior during his spell with Feyenoord. His next stop was Swansea City where he made 29 league appearances before returning to Heerenveen in 2020.
Erwin Mulder was born in Pannerden on March 3, 1989, and he has three caps with the Netherlands U20 team. He has yet to earn a call-up with the Oranje senior team. The Heerenveen goalkeeper was named in the Netherlands Euro 2012 provisional squad, but after the training with the national team, he failed to make the cut.
Highlighted Team (Twente):
Based in the city of Enschede, Twente is a Dutch football club that welcomes their rivals at De Grolsch Veste. The venue was opened on May 10, 1998, and the capacity of the stadium is 30,205 people. The club was founded in 1965 as a merger of Sportsclub Enschede and Enschedese Boys.
The Reds did remarkably well to win the Eredivisie title in the 2009/10 season, with the team finishing the process only one point clear of Dutch giants Ajax. As a result, Twente booked their place in the Champions League group stages. The Reds did well to collect six points in their group, but that did not help them make it to the last 16.
Twente are well known for their red jerseys, but they wear dark blue shirts when playing on the travels. The Reds take on Heracles Almelo in the Twentse Derby. Sander Boshchker is leading Twente’s all-time goal-scoring chart with 653 goals on his account.
