After suffering a heavy 5-2 loss at Eintracht Frankfurt, Union Berlin will be looking to return to winning ways in the Bundesliga when they take on Hertha Berlin in the local derby Matchday 27. The hosts aim to stay in the Europa League race, and we are positive that they will go all guns blazing at their local rivals on Sunday evening. Union Berlin are a real force to be reckoned with at home, with the team suffering no more than one defeat in the process to date. The likes of Musa, Giebelmann, Awoniyi, Becker, and Ujah are all likely to miss the game with injuries.
Hertha, on the other hand, desperately needed a win against Bayer Leverkusen, and they managed to get one in style. Pal Dardai’s troops proved their worth in their last league match, but given their poor away record, we are tempted to put our money on Union Berlin this time out. The German defender made his Bundesliga debut on September 13, 2014 in a 4-1 loss to Borussia M’gladbach. Nowadays Friedrich plays for Union Berlin as he signed a permanent deal with the Bundesliga side on July 5, 2019. His main position is centre-back, but he is capable of producing fine performances as both left and right back as well.
Friedrich’s contract with Union Berlin expires on June 30, 2022. The versatile defender has yet to make his debut with the Germany senior team, but he has four caps with Germany U20 and three with Germany U19 respectively.
