Our prediction for this Netherlands Eredivisie match:
After coming from behind to beat Heerenveen, Ajax will be aiming to cement top position in the standings, and they are likely to adopt yet another attack-minded approach. January signing Haller returns to the starting XI after missing the Europa League clash against Roma, while Cameroon goalkeeper remains on the sidelines through suspension. Since Stekelenburg suffered an injury, talented shot-stopper Kjell Scherpen should keep his place in goal.
RKC, on the other hand, suffered a 3-1 loss to Emmen in the relegation six-pointer. Fred Grim’s troops continue with their habit of producing much better showings at home than on travels, but they will have a big fish to fry in Sunday’s clash against the reigning champions. Talented Belgium attacker Cyril Ngonge, who found the net in the 3-1 loss to Emmen, is pushing for the start for the home team. In the first half of the season Ajax outplayed RKC 3-0 in Amsterdam.
Highlighted Player (Konstantinos Lamprou):
Konstantinos Lamprou is a Greek goalkeeper who plays for Eredivisie club RKC Waalwijk. Kostas is a product of the famous Ajax football academy, but he eventually decided to join Feyenoord football school. The 178-cm-tall shot-stopper continued playing for Feyenoord at senior level, making 14 league appearances for De Trots van Zuid.
During his spell with Feyenoord, Kostas Lamprou played for the likes of Excelsior and Willem II on loan as well. In 2017 he returned to Ajax, but made no more than three appearances in the Eredivisie with the Amsterdammers.
In the 2019/20 season he did not see any game action with Vitesse, and, as a result, he decided to join RKC Waalwijk at the end of the campaign. Born in Athens on September 18, 1991, Konstantinos Lamprou has 14 caps for the Greece U21 team. He has yet to make his debut with the senior team. His preferred foot is left and he wears the No. 31 shirt at RKC Waalwijk.
Highlighted Team (Ajax):
Ajax is a Dutch football club that was founded on 18 March, 1900. Ajax are well known for their youth academy, which regarded as one of the best youth football schools in the world. The likes of Johan Cruijff, Edwin van der Sar, Dennis Bergkamp, Patrick Kluivert, Rafael van der Vaart and Marco van Basten are all products of Ajax’s football academy. The Amsterdammers share a big rivalry with Feyenoord and there have always been fireworks when the two teams face each other in De Klassieker.
During the seventies Feyenoord and Ajax were the only two teams who were capable of winning the domestic trophies, while PSV have been playing an important role in Dutch football in the 21st century. PSV and Ajax are regarded as big rivals as well and the two teams square off against each other in De Topper. Ajax play their home games at Amsterdam ArenA, the stadium that was opened on 14 August, 1996. The Amsterdammers won their fourth European Cup (Champions League) trophy in 1995, beating Milan in the title game in Vienna.
