Our prediction for this Ligue 1 match:
All eyes will be on Stade de la Beaujoire when Nantes and Olympique Lyon face each other in the Ligue 1 round 33. Les Canaris are running down a blind alley, with the team sitting in the penultimate position in the standings, four points behind the safe zone. Nantes are desperate to grab something from Sunday’s clash, but they will have a mountain to climb in the match against the title-chasing visitors.
There are no fresh injury worries in the home team ahead of the visit of Lyon. Les Gones aim to build on a 3-0 win over Angers, and we are positive that they will go all guns blazing at Nantes. Since les Canaris continue to miss their loyal fans at Stade de la Beaujoire, we are tempted to put our money on Lyon, who aim to melt Lille’s advantage in the Ligue 1 table. The likes of Kadewere, Benlamri, and Aouar are out of contention through injuries.
Highlighted Player (Anthony Limbombe):
A Belgian player of Congolese descent, Anthony Libombe is a versatile forward who is equally able to play as a winger. The talented 22-year-old began his career at Racing Genk in 2010, while he spent the last two years as a member of Dutch side NEC Nijmegen.
During a two-year spell in the Eredivisie, Anthony Limbombe made 65 league appearances for NEC scoring 21 goals during that time. Limbombe has been outstandingly impressive during the 2015-16 season when he scored 7 goals and notched 7 assists in the Eredivisie. Belgium international has long been linked with a move to English side Leeds, who followed him closely in Eredivisie, but Limbombe chose to return to Belgium in the summer of 2016 when he signed a deal with Club Brugge reportedly worth £2 million.
Anthony Limbombe is yet to make his competitive debut for his new side, but the club management has huge expectations from a young forward who could go on to be a huge revelation in the Champions League.
Highlighted Team (Lyon):
Commonly referred to as Lyon, Olympique Lyonnais is the French club which play their games at the Parc Olimpique Lyonnais with a capacity just a pinch short of 60,000. Lyon is one of the most popular clubs in France with a vast fan base on par with Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique de Marseille.
The club achieved moderate success during the 1960s and 1970s led by the likes of Bernard Lacombe and Jean Djorkaeff, while the golden era of the French side came at the start of the new millennium when Lyon began to achieve greater success both in France and on the international level.
It was not until 2002 that Lyon won their first ever Ligue 1 title which sparked an ongoing national record-breaking streak of seven successive titles. During that time Lyon were regular participants of the UEFA Champions League. The French club reached quarter-finals on two occasions, while they even played in the semi-finals in the 2009-10 season.
