Our prediction for this League 1 match:
Crewe Alexandra and Shrewsbury Town, the two bottom-table sides, take on each other in the last game of the regular season. The 2020/21 League One campaign has been a mixed bag for the Railwaymen, and, as a result, they sit in the 14th place in the standings ahead of Matchday 46. Crewe did well to beat Bristol Rovers at the weekend, and it is more than obvious that they want to finish the season in the top half of the standings.
Keep in mind, though, that the Railwaymen failed to win the previous five home games in the League One. The Shrews, on the other hand, are on a three-game winless run in the English third tier. Steve Cotterill’s troops were beaten by the Railwaymen at Greenhous Meadow earlier this term, and given Crewe’s display in the triumph over Bristol Rovers, home win should be considered.
Highlighted Player (Donervon Daniels):
Donervon Daniels is a 186-cm-tall defender who plays for Wigan Athletic. He was born in Montserrat on 24 November, 1993 and he is a product of WBA football academy. After spending several seasons on loan at Tranmere Rovers, Gillingham, Blackpool and Aberdeen, Daniels signed for Wigan Athletic on a three-year-contract on June, 2015 and he netted his first goal for the Latics against Scunthorpe United two months later.
He made 33 appearances for Wigan in the 2015/2016 League One campaign and no doubt he helped the club secure promotion to the Championship. His main position is centre back, but he is capable of playing at right back as well. His highest market value was €250 000 on May 30, 2016.
Daniels has contract with Wigan Athletic which expires on 30 June, 2018. It has to be noted that that he was awarded WBA Young Player of the Year for the 2011/2012 season. Donvervon Daniels is a right-footed player.
Highlighted Team (Shrewsbury):
Based in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, Shrewsbury Town are a professional club that play home games at New Meadow stadium, the venue which was opened in 2007 and has the capacity of 10,361. Shrewsbury Town were founded back in 1886, with some reports indicating the club was established at the Lion Hotel.
The Blues wear blue shirts with yellow stripe and blue shorts when playing at home, whilst the colour of their away kit is purple. Mickey Brown holds the club record for most appearances as he played 190 games for the club, scoring 9 goals in the league. Both Wolverhampton and Walsall are regarded as the club’s fiercest rivals, but there have always been fireworks in matches between Shrewsbury Town and Hereford United as well.
The two teams face each other in the “A49 derby” and it has to be noted that the Blues have built rivalries with Chester City and Wrexham as well.
