Our prediction for this League 1 match:
Portsmouth desperately needed a win against AFC Wimbledon, and they managed to get one in style, but they face yet another must-win situation on the last day of the season. The Pompey are determined to book their place in the playoffs, and we are positive that they will go all guns blazing at the Stanley. Ireland forward Ronan Curtis, who has been scoring goals for fun of late, will be the man to watch in the home team.
Accrington, on the other hand, head into Sunday’s clash with the lack of motivation. John Coleman’s troops are stuck in the middle of the standings, and we do not believe that they are going to spoil Portsmouth's party at Fratton Park. Accrington midfielder Joe Pritchard, who found the net in the 1-1 draw with Charlton, is widely expected to return to the starting XI.
Highlighted Player (Ellis Harrison):
Highlighted Team (Accrington):
Founded back in 1891 and reformed in 1968, Accrington Stanley are an English football club that compete in the League One. The original team competed in the Football League from 1921 to 1962, spending the last four seasons in Lancashire Combination.
The Accy are well known for their red home kit, whilst they wear sky blue shirts and white shorts when playing on the travels. The League One side play their home games at Crown Ground, the stadium which can hold up to 5,450 spectators (3,100 seated). Accrington have been playing at Crown Ground since 1970.
Listed as the all-time favourite player amongst fans, Chris Grimshaw is one of the most famous Accrington Stanley footballers. However, George Stewart is the team’s top scorer, netting 136 goals in total from 1954 to 1958. It has to be noted that the Accy have yet to represent England in European competitions.
