Sunderlan will be aiming to overtake Blackpool in third position in the standings when they take on Northampton in the last game of the season. The Black Cats did well to beat Plymouth 3-1 in their last league match, with the team putting an end to their seven-game winless run. Sunderland failed to win the previous three home fixtures, but they are surely capable of beating the Cobblers, who will compete in the League Two next season.
Northampton failed to secure the League One survival, and, as a result, they are low on confidence ahead of Matchday 46. Since Sunderland want this win more than Northampton, we predict that the Cobblers are going to return home empty-handed. In the first half of the season the two teams played out a goalless draw, but home win should be considered this time out.
