Our prediction for this Ligue 1 match:
All eyes will be on Stadium Municipal when Toulouse and Nantes face each other in the Ligue 1 relegation playoffs, first leg. Nantes suffered a shocking 2-1 loss to Montpellier in the last game of the regular season, and, as a result, they set up a meeting with Toulouse in the relegation double-header. Les Canaris boss Antoine Kombouare should have a full squad to choose from against les Pitchons, which is probably the main reason why we predict that the Ligue 1 side will grab something from the first leg.
Toulouse did well to crush Grenoble 3-0 in the semis, and, no doubt, they are brimming with confidence ahead of Thursday’s showdown. Taking everything into account, a close encounter is on the horizon at Stadium Municipal, and we believe that there is a big value in betting on draw. In their last meeting in a competitive match Nantes defeated Toulouse 2-1.
Highlighted Player (Firmin Mubele):
Firmin Ndombe Mubele is a DR Congo international, who plays for Toulouse in Ligue 1. The 178-cm tall winger was born in Kinshasa (Zaire) on April 17, 1994, starting his senior career at his hometown club Vita Club. Mubele scored 17 goals for Vita Club in the league before joining Al Ahli in 2015 and in 2017 he moved to France, signing a contract with Rennes.
After spending only one season at Roazhon Park, the Congolese footballer joined Toulouse on loan. Mubele eventually signed a permanent deal with les Pitchouns, who secured the Ligue 1 survival thanks to a win over Ajaccio in the play-off. Firmin Mubele scored his first goal for Toulouse on March 11, 2018 in a 2-1 loss to Olympique Marseille. Speaking of his international career, the Toulouse attacker has established himself as one of best DR Congo footballers.
Mubele scored four goals in eight appearances for DR Congo in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, but that did not help his national team book their place at the showpiece tournament in Russia.
Highlighted Team (Nantes):
Founded on April 21, 1943 Nantes is a professional football club that compete in French Ligue 1. Les Canaris are considered one of the most famous French clubs and they had a lot of success during the sixties and the seventies. Nantes won their first Ligue 1 title in the 1964/1965 season and 36 years later (2000/2001) they clinched their eighth (last) domestic trophy.
Speaking of the club’s European success, les Canaris did well to make it to the Champions League semis in 1996, but Italian giants Juventus proved to be a big catch for the French outfit. Nantes welcome their rivals at La Beaujoire-Louis Fonteneau and the capacity of the stadium is 38.004.
The likes of Vahid Halilhodzic, Adel Selimi, Michel Der Zakarian, Viorel Moldovan, Mario Yepes, Marcel Desailly, Didier Deschamps, Claude Makelele, Christian Karembeu and Dimitri Payet are the notable footballers who played for the club in the past. Nantes are well known for their yellow jerseys and that is the reason why they are nicknamed the Canaries (les Canaris).
