Arminia Bielefeld play host to Freiburg at their Schuco Arena in the opening match of the season. Arminia secured the Bundesliga survival thanks to a 2-0 win over Stuttgart on the last day of the 2020/21 season, and they are on the same quest in the new campaign. Frank Kramer’s troops did well to crush SpVgg Bayreuth 6-3 in their DFB Pokal opener, which is surely giving fans a reason for optimism ahead of the visit of Freiburg.
The visitors, on the other hand, head into the match following a hard-fought 1-0 win over Wurzburger Kickers. Freiburg, though, were beaten by Arminia in their last meeting at Schuco Arena and given Bielefeld’s display in the German Cup triumph, home win should be considered. The Dutch defender made his Bundesliga debut on September 19, 2020 in a 1-1 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt. His primary position is centre-back, and he has a contract with Arminia until June 30, 2023.
