Our prediction for this Ligue 1 match:
Rennes play host to Reims at their Roazhon Park on day 5 of the new Ligue 1 campaign. Les Rouges et Noirs aim to bounce back from a 2-0 loss to Angers, but they will have to do it without rising star Eduardo Camavinga, who joined Real Madrid in the summer transfer window. Loic Bade is banned for the hosts, while all Jeremy Doku, Jeremy Gelin, and Jonas Martin are out of contention through injuries. Reims, on the other hand, aim to put an end to their four-match winless.
Les Rouges et Blancs are determined to record their first win of the season, but beating Rennes at Roazhon Park is easier said than done. Since Eduardo Camavinga should be sorely missed for the hosts on Sunday afternoon, we believe that there is a big value in betting on draw. All Moussa Doumbia, Fraser Hornby, Anastasios Donis, and Arber Zeneli are likely to miss the game with injuries.
Highlighted Player (Jonas Martin):
Born in Besancon on April 9, 1990, Jonas Martin is a French footballer who plays for Strasbourg as a midfielder. Jonas Martin started his youth career at Rigny and after spending four years at the club (1997-2000) he moved to Nimes Olympique in 2000.
Four years later the playmaker joined Montpellier and he made 92 appearances for La Paillade. Martin played 64 games for Montpellier II as well and he spent the 2011/2012 season on loan at Amiens. In the summer of 2016 the French player signed a three-year contract with La Liga team Real Betis and at the end of the season he returned to France, joining Ligue 1 outfit Strasbourg.
His main position is central midfielder, but he is capable of playing as both defensive midfielder and attacking midfielder as well. Jonas Martin has one cap for France U19 team, but he has yet to make his debut for the senior team. His contract with Strasbourg expires on June 30, 2020.
Highlighted Team (Reims):
Reims are a French football club founded in 1931. Reims welcome their rivals at Stade Auguste Delaune, which can hold up to 21,684 people. Believe it or not, Reims won six Ligue 1 titles (1948/1949, 1952/1953, 1954/1955, 1957/1958, 1959/1960, 1961/1962). To make things even better for the fans, Reims participated in the European Cup final on two occasions.
In 1956 they faced Real Madrid in the title game and despite taking the lead after six minutes, the French side eventually suffered a 4-3 loss to los Blancos at Parc des Princes. Three years later Reims had a chance to get their revenge on Real Madrid, but the Spanish giants once again won the European Cup, with Mateos and Di Stefano finding the net in the 2-0 victory over Albert Batteux.
The club’s most notable footballer is Just Fontaine, who scored 13 goals for France at the 1958 FIFA World Cup finals. Reims’ home colours are red and white, with the team wearing white when playing on the road.
