Our prediction for this Segunda Division match:
Estadio Nuevo Carlos Tartiere will host Sunday’s football game between Real Oviedo and Cartagena. Real Oviedo aim to build on a 2-1 win over Huesca, which gave them a confidence boost, and the bookies see them as favourites to beat Cartagena. Summer signing Borja Baston opened his goal-scoring account at the weekend, and we are positive that the former Leganes attacker will pose a big threat to the opposition defenders.
The Black and Whites, on the other hand, aim to build on back-to-back wins over Zaragoza and Real Sociedad B. Cartagena are eyeing their third consecutive clean sheet, but preventing Borja Baston and Co. from scoring at “Carlos Tartiere” is easier said than done. You should bear in mind that Oviedo are eyeing their first ever win over Cartagena in the Spanish second tier. Alfredo Ortuno is pushing for a start for the visiting team.
Highlighted Player (Alejandro Arribas ):
Born in Madrid, Spain on May 1, 1989, Alejandro Arribas is a Spanish footballer who plays for Real Oviedo in La Liga 2. Arribas is a very experienced defender as he played for Primera Division sides Rayo Vallecano, Osasuna, Deportivo La Coruna and Sevilla in the past.
He is a product of Rayo Majadahonda football school, but he did not see any game action with the club at senior level. Alejandro Arribas played for Mexican club UNAM before signing a three-year deal with Real Oviedo in the summer of 2019.
He made his debut with los Azules in a 2-1 loss to Fuenlabrada on August 31, 2019. The towering defender has never received a call-up for the Spain national football team. His main position is centre-back, but he can be used as a right-back as well if needed. The right-footed footballer has a contract with Real Oviedo until June 30, 2021.
Highlighted Team (Cartagena):
Founded on July 25, 1995, Cartagena is a Spanish football club that plays in La Liga 2. Los Boquerones dropped to Segunda B in the 2011/12 season, but following an eight-year absence, they returned to the Spanish second tier.
Cartagena play home matches at Cartagonova, the venue which can hold 15,105 spectators. The stadium was built by CMMP Arquitectos in 1987, and opened the following year. Real Murcia are regarded as the club’s main rivals, with the two teams facing each other in the Derbi of the Region of Murcia. Toche is leading Cartagena’s all-time top goalscoring chart with 39 goals.
Los Boquerones are well known for their black shirts with white stripes. Red, on the other hand, is the dominant colour of the club’s away kit. It has to be noted that Cartagena have never competed in la liga. The club’s highest ranking in the Segunda Division came in the 2009/10 season when they finished the campaign in 5th position in the standings.
