Our prediction for this Ligue 1 match:
Legendary Stade de la Beaujoire will host Wednesday’s Ligue 1 game between Nantes and Brest. Les Canaris quickly bounced back from a 2-0 loss to Nice, with the team outplaying Angers 4-1 in their last league match. The triumph gave Nantes footballers a confidence boost, and we are positive that they will adopt an attack-minded approach in the midweek clash.
Fabio, who limped off with injury in the last league match, is unlikely to feature against Brest, while Anthony Limbombe remains in the recovery room. Brest, on the other hand, aim to put an end to their six-game winless run in the French top flight. Since all Cibois, Herelle, Lasne, Mounie, and Uronen are likely to miss the game with injuries, home win should be considered. In their last meeting at the venue Nantes recorded a 3-1 win over Brest.
Highlighted Player (Alban Lafont):
Alban Lafont is a French goalkeeper who plays for Ligue 1 side Toulouse. Born in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, Lafont joined AS Lattoise youth school at the age of nine and he stayed at the academy until 2014 when he moved to Toulouse.
The 193-cm-tall goalkeeper has established himself as a first-choice goalkeeper at Toulouse and it has to be noted that he made 36 appearances for the club in the 2016/2017 season, keeping 10 clean sheets in the process. Due to his dual citizenship, Alban Lafont is eligible to represent both Burkina Faso and France on international stage, but he has yet to play for the African team.
Alban Lafont represented les Tricolores at youth level and, no doubt, there is a bright future ahead of the talented shoot-stopper who was born on January 23, 1999. The rising star has a contract with Toulouse which expires on June 30, 2020.
Highlighted Team (Brest):
Founded in 1950, Brest (Stade Brestois) are a French football club that compete in the Ligue 1. La Team Pirate welcome their opponents at Stade Francis-Le Ble, the venue which was opened back in 1922. The capacity of the stadium is 15,931, but on August 8, 1986 21,619 watched the game between Brest and Olympique Marseille.
The club’s home colours are red and white, with the team wearing black kit when playing on the travels. Brest’s third kit is white. La Team Pirate, who made it to the French Cup on two occasions (1982/83 and 2014/15), have rivalries with fellow clubs from Bretagne: Rennes, Lorient, Nantes, Guingamp and Vannes.
The likes of Bernard Lama Stephane Guivarch, Paul le Guen, David Ginola and Frank Ribbery are the most notable footballers who played for the club. Bayern Munchen legend Frank Ribery scored 3 goals in 35 appearances for Brest in the national championship.
