Our prediction for this Championship match:
Bloomfield Road will host Saturday’s football game between Blackpool and Barnsley, the two teams who are level on points ahead of Matchday 9. The Seasiders aim to build on a 2-1 win at Middlesbrough, but this match will be anything but a walk in the park for the hosts. All CJ Hamilton, Grant Ward, and Demetri Mitchell are rated doubtful, while Matty Virtue misses out with an ACL injury.
The Tykes, on the other hand, are eyeing their only second win of the season. Since both Blackpool and Barnsley are likely to go for a win in Saturday’s clash, we believe that there is a big value in betting on both teams to score. Josh Benson is quarantined following a positive test for coronavirus, while all Ben Williams, Jordan Williams, Carlton Morris, and Mads Juel Andersen remain in the recovery room.
Highlighted Player (Chris Maxwell):
Chris Maxwell is a Welsh goalkeeper who was born in St Asaph on July 30, 1990. Maxwell began his youth career at Penrhyn Bay (1998-2000) and in 2000 he moved to Wrexham. The 188-cm-tall shoot-stopper made his first-team debut for Wrexham at the age of 18 and he played 76 league games for the club from 2008 to 2012.
During the 2008/2009 season he spent six months on loan at Welsh club Connah’s Quay Nomads and in 2012 he joined Fleetwood Town. Chris Maxwell made 110 appearances in the league for the Trawlermen and on May 16, 2016 he signed a three-year deal with Championship side Preston North End. You should know that he managed to keep clean sheets in 38 appearances for the Lilywhites in the 2016/2017 Championship campaign.
Due to his dual citizenship, Maxwell is capable of representing both Wales and Scotland at senior level, but he played for the Dragons at youth level, being capped for the U21 team 16 times.
Highlighted Team (Barnsley):
Barnsley are an English club nicknamed the Tykes. The club was founded in 1887 and it has to be noted that they spend more seasons in the Championship than any other club in the history. The Tykes played in the Sheffield and District League from 1890, but in 1895 they were part of the Midland League. Barnsley play their home games at Oakwell, the stadium that was built in 1887.
The capacity of the stadium is 23,009 and it was opened back in 1888, just one year after the club’s foundation. The Tykes made it to the FA Cup final in 1910, but Newcastle United proved to be a big catch for the Oakwell outfit in the title game.
Nonetheless, Barnsley won the FA cup trophy in 1912 and that is considered the club’s biggest success. Barnsley defeated West Bromwich Albion in the two-legged tie (0-0, 1-0) to clinch the prestigious trophy for the first and only time in their history.
