Poland
Albania and Poland square off against each other at Air Albania Stadium in what is expected to be an interesting World Cup qualifier. Both sides are vying for second position in Group I, and, no doubt, there will be fireworks in Tuesday’s showdown. The Albanians are eyeing their fourth consecutive win of the process, but beating Poland is easier said than done. Since Atalanta defender Berat Djimsiti limped off with injury in the 1-0 win over Hungary, home win should not be considered.
The Poles, on the other hand, faced no difficulties in a 5-0 crushing of San Marino. Bayern Munchen superstar Robert Lewandowski will lead the line for the visitors, and seeing that fit-again Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski returns to the starting XI, we are tempted to put our money on the visitors. Midfielder Endri Cekici is banned for the hosts.
Highlighted Player (Elseid Hysaj):
Born on 2nd February 1994, Elseid Hysaj is an Albanian defender who has spent his entire professional career in Italian Serie A and he is predicted a bright future in the game. Empoli scouts spotted his talent while he was playing for Shodra youth sides, and after three years in the youth team, the full-back was promoted to the first team set up.
Hysaj performed really well in his first three years as a first team regular, helping the Azzurri gain promotion to the top fight in the process. One season in Serie A proved enough for the right-sided defender to secure a big club move as he joined Napoli in the summer of 2015 and immediately nailed down a regular starting berth.
Capable of doing dirty defensive work as well as making forward runs, Hysaj is a modern full-back, who is destined for big things. The talented footballer is already a key member of the Albania national team and he will represent the country at the Euro 2016 finals.
Highlighted Team (Poland):
Poland have recently emerged as one of Europe’s top sides, although they did enjoy some success during the 70’s and 80’s. The White Eagles impressed to achieve third-place finish at the 1974 and 1982 World Cup tournaments, while they also win the 1972 Olympics, albeit with an amateur side.
Poland started showing improvement at the turn of the century, slowly becoming regular at major tournaments and they even co-hosted the Euro 2012 with Ukraine, but disappointed home fans to crash out in the group stage. The new generation, boasting players like Robert Lewandowski, Arkadiusz Milik, Lukas Piszczek, Grzegorz Krychowiak and Jakub Blaszczykowski, has the potential to help the national team return to old glory days, with some talented players also coming through the youth ranks.
Zbigniew Boniek, Wlodzimierz Lubanski and Grzegorz Lato are some of the other players who have impressed playing for the national team, which has been playing their home games at the National Stadium in Warsaw.
