Estadio Olimpico Metropolitano will host Thursday’s World Cup qualifier between Honduras and Jamaica. Los Catrachos aim to make amends for a 3-0 loss to Mexico, and they are likely to leave their hearts on the field. Even though important defender Maynor Figueroa is banned for the match, we are tempted to put our money on the hosts as the Reggae Boyz are still without key attacker Michail Antonio.
Jamaica have been struggling in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, with the team collecting only two points in total in the process. Since the Reggae Boyz have yet to record a win in the qualifiers for the showpiece tournament, we are tempted to put our money on Honduras, who have turned Estadio Olimpico Metropolitano into a real fortress. Jamaica defender Alvas Powell limped off with injury in a goalless draw with Canada, which is yet another reason why home win should be considered.
Highlighted Player (Andy Najar):
Andy Najar is a Honduras footballer who plays for both Anderlecht and the Honduras national team. Najar is a product of D.C. United’s youth academy and it has to be noted that he was named in the USSF Development Academy starting XI in 2009. The Honduras player made his senior debut for D.C. United on March 27, 2010 in a game against Kansas City Wizards.
Andy Najar scored his first professional goal one month later in a match against Dallas. Najar impressed in the 2010 MLS season and, as a result, he received the Rookie of the Year award. Speaking of his international career, Andy Najar made his Honduras debut on September 3, 2011, coming as a substitute in a friendly game against Colombia.
The right-footed winger (full-back) represented Honduras at the 2012 Olympics and he scored his first goal for los Catrachos against Costa Rica in the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup knockout stages. Andy Najar was born on March 16, 1993 in Choluteca.

The Reggae Boyz are enjoying in their 2014 Copa Centroamericana title and are looking forward to their second-ever entry into the Copa America. Jamaica took positives from their debut in the competition last year in Chile despite going out in the group stage and will now be willing to make one step further.
The country had more success later in the summer when Winfried Schafer’s men knocked off the United States in the semi-finals of the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup. The Reggae Boyz were ultimately stopped in the final as they lost to Mexico, but the ticket to 2016 Copa America was enough of a reward itself as four highest finishers were guaranteed a place at the competition.
Jamaica stepped onto the international scene with a 2-1 win over Haiti in 1925 and have so far qualified only once for the FIFA World Cup in 1998. It was not until 1965 that Jamaica made their first attempt to qualify for the World Cup though.
