Our prediction for this League 1 match:
Abbey Stadium will host Tuesday’s League One game between Cambridge United and Sheffield Wednesday. The U’s failed to win the previous four league fixtures, but they showed character in a 2-2 draw with Ipswich United, with the team coming from two goals behind. Cambridge United are determined to return to winning ways, and we predict that they will go all guns blazing at the Owls.
A man to keep an eye on in the home team will be Joe Ironside, who scored his sixth goal of the season in the draw with the Tractor Boys. Leon Davies is a major doubt, and he will be assessed ahead of the kick-off. Sheffield Wednesday, on the other hand, head into the match following a 2-2 draw with AFC Wimbledon. Considering that the Owls have been scoring goals for fun on the road of late, both teams to score betting option should be considered. All Josh Windass, Massimo Luongo, and George Byers are out of contention with injuries.
Highlighted Player (Liam O’Neil):
Born in Cambridge, England on July 31, 1993, Liam O’Neil is an English footballer who plays as both defender as midfielder for Cambridge United in the League Two. O’Neil is a product of the Cambridge United football school, but he played for Histon during his youth career as well.
In the summer of 2012 he joined WBA youth academy, and it has to be noted that he made three appearances for the Baggies at senior level in all competitions. Liam O’Neil played for the likes of VPS and Scunthorpe United on loan as well before joining Chesterfield in 2015.
After scoring two goals in 45 appearances for the club in the league, O’Neil moved to Cambridge United in the winter of 2017. As his mother comes from Wales, O’Neil is open to play for the Wales national team, but he has yet to earn a cap with the Dragons.
Highlighted Team (Sheffield Wednesday):
Sheffield Wednesday are one of the two famous clubs from the city of Sheffield (South Yorkshire). The Owls compete in the English second tier (Championship) and they play their home matches at Hillsborough.
The venue was the scene of the Hillsborough disaster which occurred in 1989 when 96 Liverpool supporters were crushed to death in the FA Cup semi-final. It has to be noted that the World Cup (1966) and the Euro (1996) matches were played at Hillsborough.
Sheffield Wednesday have won four First Division trophies (1902/2903, 1903/1904, 1928/1929, 1929/2930) and they finished the 1960/1961 campaign in second place in the standings. The Owls have clinched three FA Cup trophies (1896, 1907, 1935), with the team winning the League Cup in 1991.
Sheffield Wednesday defeated English giants Manchester United (1-0) in the title game. Sheffield United are regarded as the Owls’ main rivals and the two teams face each other in the Steel City derby.
