Our prediction for this Championship match:
Barnsley and Swansea City, the two teams who met in the Championship playoffs last season, face each other at Oakwell on day 19 of the new campaign. The Tykes are hungry for revenge, and they are likely to fight tooth and nail against the Swans. The good news for the hosts is that right-back Callum Brittain returns from suspension. Fit-again winger Carlton Morris, though, could be rested this time out.
The Swans, on the other hand, head into the match following a 1-1 draw with Blackpool. Considering that Barnsley have been struggling at the back of late, we do not believe that the Welsh outfit will have a better chance than this to get back on course. Important centre-back Ryan Bennett is back from suspension for the visiting side, which is yet another reason why we are tempted to put our money on the Swans.
Highlighted Player (Patrick Schmidt):
Patrick Schmidt is an Austria international who plays for Championship club Barnsley as a forward. Born in Eisenstadt, Austria on July 22, 1998 Schmidt began his senior career at Admira Wacker. After making 46 appearances for Admira Wacker II, the 179-cm tall striker started playing for the first-team in the 2016/2017 Austrian Bundesliga season.
Three years later Patrick Schmidt decided to take a step forward in his football career as he signed a four-year deal with Barnsley. The full-of-pace forward scored eight goals in the 2018/2019 season for Admira and he is widely expected to shine with the Tykes in the 2019/2020 Championship campaign. It has to be noted that Schmidt played for Austria U16, U17, U18 and U19 teams.
The Barnsley attacker currently represents Austria U21 team in international matches. His main position is centre-forward, but he is used as both left and right winger as well.
Highlighted Team (Swansea):
Swansea City AFC is a Welsh football club from Swansea and is currently playing in the English Premier League. The biggest rival Swansea City is Cardiff City which is next to Swansea City the only football club from Wales that played in the PremierLeague.
Swansea City was founded in 1912 under the name ‘Swansea Town’. The first venue where Swansea City played was The Vetch Field. The club grew in members and fans and on 23th of July 2005 Swansea City opened the Liberty Stadium which holds a capacity of 21 000 supporters. The fans of Swansea City prefer to use the non-commercial name: White Rock Stadium.
In the history of Swansea City the club managed to win the Football League One twice and the Welsh Cup 10 times. So far the Welsh club didn’t win any prizes in the highest English divisions. Known players that wore the Swansea jersey are Lampard, Toshack, Martinez and Bony.
