Our prediction for this Championship match:
Buoyed by a 2-0 win over Barnsley, Swansea City will look to give fans yet another reason for celebration when they take on Reading on Matchday 20. The Swans have been climbing the standings week by week, but they need to keep on making progress if they are to book their place in the Championship playoffs. France midfielder Olivier Ntcham is pushing for a start after scoring as a substitute in the midweek triumph.
Head coach Russell Martin should have a full squad to choose from. The Royals, on the other hand, aim to bounce back from a 1-0 loss to Sheffield United. Reading are only two points clear of the relegation zone, and given Swansea’s display in the midweek victory, we do not believe that Veljko Paunovic’s men are capable of grabbing something from the match. All Jahmari Clarke, Junior Hoilett, Michael Morrison, Andy Rinomhota, Tom McIntyre, Yakou Meite, and Lucas Joao are sidelined with injuries.
Highlighted Player (Korey Smith):
After spending his youth career at Norwich City, Korey Smith made his first-team debut for the Canaries in January 2008 in the FA Cup clash against Charlton Athletic. Smith played 67 league games for Norwich City and he scored 4 goals for the club, but in 2013 he signed a two-year deal with Oldham Athletic.
The midfielder who was born on 31 January, 1991, scored one goal in 42 appearances for the club in the 2013/2014 campaign and on 27 June, 2014, he joined Bristol City for an undisclosed fee. It has to be noted that he won Johnstone’s Paint Trophy with the Robins in his first season with the team.
Korey Smith was born in Hatfield, England and he has two younger sisters, Alice and Harriet. Smith is a defensive midfielder, but he is capable of operating as central midfielder and right back as well. The Bristol City footballer also represented the likes of Barnsley and Yeovil Town (on loan) in the past.
Highlighted Team (Reading):
Reading FC is a professional football club that play in the Championship. The club was formed in 1871 and Madejski Stadium has been the home of Reading since 1998. The Royals used to play their home games at Elm Park in the past (1896 - 1998). Reading made it to the FA Cup semi-finals on two occasions (1927, 2015), but they have yet to win the prestigious trophy.
The likes of Robin Friday, Trevor Senior, Steve Death, Shaka Hislop, Phil Parkinson, Alf Messer, Jimmy Quinn, Michael Gilkes, Ronnie Blackman, Pavel Pogrebnyak and Martin Hicks are some of their more notable footballers. Aldershot Town were considered Reading’s fiercest rivals, but the Shots went out of business in 1992.
Seeing that Aldershot rejoined the league in 2008 it remains to be seen if the rivalry is going to be re-established in near future. Swindon Town and Oxford United are considered Reading’s big rivals as well.
