Our prediction for this Segunda Division match:
Alcorcon will be aiming to move away from the rock bottom when they take on Lugo on Matchday 18. Los Alfareros are not having a season to remember, with the team collecting only eight points in total in the 2021/2022 La Liga 2 campaign, but this match could be the turning point for the hosts. Alcorcon had no more than one shot on target in a 1-0 loss to Tenerife, but it is well known that they produce much better showings at home than on the travels.
Both Al Badaoui and Jimenez Xisco are pushing for a start for the home team. Ruben Albes’ men, on the other hand, played out a thrilling 2-2 draw with Eibar in their last league match, but given their anything but brilliant away record, we are tempted to put our money on Alcorcon, who want this win more than Lugo. Defender Ricard Sanchez is banned for the visitors.
Highlighted Player (Richard Boateng):
Born in Accra, Ghana on July 10, 1992, Richard Boateng is a midfielder who plays for Alcorcon in Segunda Division. Boateng is a product of Liberty Babies football academy, with the Ghanaian starting his senior career at Liberty Professionals. In 2010 he moved to Spain, signing a deal with Granada.
During his spell with the Andalusian outfit, he mainly played for Granada B, but he spent a couple of years at loan at Cadiz B and San Roque as well. Richard Boateng made only one appearance for the Granada senior team in the league.
The Ghana international played for the likes of Aris Limassol, Extremadura, Melilla, and Oviedo as well before joining Alcorcon in 2019. His primary position is central midfielder, but he is used as an attacking midfielder as well. His preferred foot is right, and his contract with Alcorcon should expire in June 2021.
Highlighted Team (Lugo):
Based in the autonomous community of Galicia, CD Lugo is a Spanish football club that plays in Segunda Division. Despite being founded back on June 16, 1953, Lugo have never competed in the Spanish top flight. The club’s best result in Segunda division came in the 2016/17 season when they finished 9th.
Los Albivermellos wear red shirts with white stripes when playing at home, whereas white and blue are the dominant colours of the club’s away kit. CD Lugo played their first official game on September 13, 1953, with the team beating Pontevedra 3-1. Ponferradina are seen as the club’s fiercest rivals, with the two teams facing each other in Derbi de los Ancares.
