Our prediction for this Segunda Division match:
Sunday’s football game at Estadio Nuevo Carlos Tartiere pits together Real Oviedo and Alcorcon, the two teams who sit in the opposite halves of the table. Real Oviedo are on a four-match unbeaten run in La Liga2, and a win over Alcorcon could see them climb to the playoffs berth. Brazil forward Matheus Aias, who found the net in a 1-1 draw with Mirandes, is pushing for a start. Alcorcon, on the other hand, are stuck at the bottom of the table, with the team collecting only nine points in total.
The rock-bottom side struggle at the back, and given Real Oviedo’s fine home record, we predict that the visitors are going to return to Madrid empty-handed. Los Azules failed to win los Alfareros in the previous three meetings between the two teams, but we believe that the time has come for Jose Ziganda’s troops to put an end to the negative trend.
Highlighted Player (Alejandro Arribas ):
Born in Madrid, Spain on May 1, 1989, Alejandro Arribas is a Spanish footballer who plays for Real Oviedo in La Liga 2. Arribas is a very experienced defender as he played for Primera Division sides Rayo Vallecano, Osasuna, Deportivo La Coruna and Sevilla in the past.
He is a product of Rayo Majadahonda football school, but he did not see any game action with the club at senior level. Alejandro Arribas played for Mexican club UNAM before signing a three-year deal with Real Oviedo in the summer of 2019.
He made his debut with los Azules in a 2-1 loss to Fuenlabrada on August 31, 2019. The towering defender has never received a call-up for the Spain national football team. His main position is centre-back, but he can be used as a right-back as well if needed. The right-footed footballer has a contract with Real Oviedo until June 30, 2021.
Highlighted Team (Alcorcon):
Founded on July 20, 1971, Alcorcon have been competing in Segunda Division since the 2010/11 season. Los Alfareros welcome their rivals at Santo Domingo, the stadium opened in 1999. The venue has the capacity of 5,100 people. Alcorcon have made it to the Segunda Division playoffs on several occasions, but they have never participated in La Liga.
The club’s biggest success in Copa del rey came in the 2009/10 season when they made it to the last 16 of the prestigious competition. Alcorcon suffered a 3-2 (on agg.) loss to Racing Santander in the round of 16. The club’s home colour is yellow, while their away kit is mainly blue.
Los Alfareros played their first official game on September 8, 1971, with the team losing 2-0 to Atletico Madrid youth team. The likes of Cordoba and Leganes are regarded as the club’s main rivals, while David Rodriguez is the club’s all-time top goalscorer.
