Our prediction for this Bundesliga match:
Freiburg play host to Arminia Bielefeld at their Europa-Park Stadion on day 18 of the current Bundesliga campaign. Freiburg did well to beat Bayer Leverkusen 2-1 in their last game of 2021, with the team finishing the first half of the season in top three. Christian Streich’s troops aim to give fans yet another reason for celebration, and they are likely to go all guns blazing at Arminia. Manuel Gulde and Yannik Keitel should be the only absentees in the home team.
Die Arminien, on the other hand, are stuck in the relegation zone despite back-to-back wins over Bochum and Leipzig. Considering that Freiburg are a real force to be reckoned with at home, the relegation strugglers are unlikely to grab something from Saturday’s clash. Both Fabian Klos and Fabian Kunze are banned for the match, while Stefanos Kapino, Manuel Prietl, and Stefan Ortega miss out through illness.
Highlighted Player (Nils Petersen):
Son to a football coach, Andreas, the Freiburg striker Nils Petersen is a physical forward best known for his clinical finishing. A former Bayern Munich striker never got a chance to prove his worth with Bundesliga giants and had to take a long road to prominence which included loan spells at Werder Bremen and Freiburg, before penning a permanent deal with Die Breisaguer in 2015.
Petersen’s impressive exploits during the 2017/18 season helped him get into Germany’s provisional FIFA World Cup 2018 squad although his father Andreas would argue it was his personal influence that helped Joachim Loew write his son’s name in the 23-man list. Namely, Andres Piteresen spotted the Germany manager on a beach in January and decided to ask him about his son’s chances of making it into Germany World Cup squad.
Piteresen was rewarded with his senior Germany cap in an Austria friendly but unfortunately for his father missed out on the final squad for the tournament in Russia.
Highlighted Team (Arminia Bielefeld):
Arminia Bielefeld is a German club founded on May 3, 1905. Die Arminen play home games at Bielefelder Alm. The venue was built in 1926, and it can hold up to 26,515 spectators. Arminia Bielefeld have yet to win the Bundesliga trophy, but they did well to lift the West German Cup title on two occasions (1966, 1974).
Back in 1922 they won the Western German football championship, with the team repeating the success the following year. Arminia Bielefeld wear dark blue shirts when playing at home ground, while white is the dominant colour of their away jersey. In the 2019/20 season Arminia returned to the Bundesliga, where they undisputedly belong.
Bruno Labbadia is considered one of the most famous footballers who played for the club. The ex Bayern Munchen attacker scored 50 goals in 98 appearances in the league for Arminia Bielefeld. Labbadia has two caps for the German national team, and six for the West Germany U21.
