Our prediction for this League 2 match:
Buoyed by a hard-fought 1-0 win over Port Vale, Salford City will look to give fans yet another reason for celebration when they take on Colchester United in the League Two round 28. The Lions quickly bounced back from a 2-1 loss to Bradford City, with the team keeping their playoffs hopes alive. Ibour Touray is on international duty, while Brandon Thomas-Asante is back from suspension. Important attacker Ian Henderson is a major doubt.
The U’s, on the other hand, suffered yet another dip in form, with the team losing each of their last five league fixtures. Considering that Colchester United are not regarded as good travelers, we believe that there is a big value in betting on the Lions. In the first half of the season the Lions defeated the U’s 2-0.
Highlighted Player (Tom King):
Thomas Lloyd King is a professional footballer who plays for Newport County as a goalkeeper. Born in Plymouth, England, on March 9, 1995, Tom King played for the likes of Manchester 62, Portsmouth, and Crystal Palace during his youth career.
Despite signing a professional deal with Crystal Palace, the English shot-stopper did not see any game action with the Eagles at the senior level. Tom King moved to Millwall in the summer of 2014, signing a one-year deal with the capital club. After making only 11 appearances for the Lions in the League One, King joined League two side Newport County on June 7, 2019, signing a two-year deal with the South Wales outfit.
It has to be noted that Thomas Lloyd King played for the likes of Welling United, Braintree Town, Stevenage, and AFC Wimbledon on loan as well before signing a deal with Newport County. Tom King has one cap with the England U17 despite his dual citizenship (England/Wales).
Highlighted Team (Colchester):
Founded in 1937, Colchester United are a professional football club that compete in the League Two, the English fourth tier. The U’s welcome their rivals at Colchester Community Stadium, the venue which has the capacity of 10,105 people.
Colchester United are well known for their blue kit, but white is the dominant colour of their away kit. The U’s have an official fans association known as the CUSA. Colchester supporters consider Wycombe Wanderers the club’s fiercest rivals, but the rivalries with Southend United and Ipswich Town are big as well. Colchester United did well to win the FA Trophy in the 1991/92 season, with the team clinching the Essex Senior Cup trophy in the 2009/10 season.
In December 1961 the U’s recorded their biggest win, with the team rolling over Bradford City 9-1 in the Fourth Division. Colchester United repeated the success 44 years later as they hammered Leamington 9-1 in the FA Cup round 1.
