Our prediction for this Championship match:
Kirklees Stadium will host Wednesday’s Championship game between Huddersfield Town and Derby County. The Terriers aim to climb to the playoffs berth, but this game will be anything but a walk in the park for the home side. Both Levi Colwill and Alex Vallejo are sidelined with injuries, but there are no suspended players in the home team. Experienced attacker Jordan Rhodes should start from the bench once again.
The Rams, on the other hand, are fighting hard to secure yet another Championship survival. Derby County are seven points behind the safe zone due to the 21-point deduction, meaning that they need to keep on making progress if they are to avoid the drop to the League One. Anyhow, both teams to score betting option should be considered as both Huddersfield and Derby will go for a win in the midweek clash. Ravel Morrison is on international duty with Jamaica, but he should be the only absentee in the away side.
Highlighted Player (Danny Ward):
Daniel Ward is a goalkeeper who was born on 22 June, 1993 in Wrexham, Wales. The 191-cm-tall shoot-stopper is a product of Wrexham Academy, but he did not make his senior debut for the club. After spending the 2010/2011 season at Tamworth, Danny Ward returned to Wrexham and on 30 January, 2012 he joined Liverpool for a fee of £100,000.
He made just two league appearances for the Anfield outfit and in 2015 he signed a loan deal with Morecambe. On 23 June he signed a new five-year deal with Liverpool, but he was soon sent on loan to Aberdeen. He played 21 games for the Scottish outfit and on 11 July, 2016 he signed a season-long deal with Championship team Huddersfield Town.
Danny Ward has 4 caps for Wales U21 team and he made his senior debut for the Dragons in a friendly against Northern Ireland on 24 March, 2016. Ward represented his homeland at the 2016 European Championship finals in France as he started the game against Slovakia.
Highlighted Team (Derby):
Derby County is one of the 12 founder members of the Football League. However, nowadays the Rams compete in the Championship and they play their home matches at Pride Park Stadium. Derby County have won the two trophies in the English top flight (1971/1972, 1974/1975), with the team lifting the FA Cup trophy just after the World War II (1946).
Derby’s main rivals are Nottingham Forest, Leicester City and Leeds United, but the rivalry between Forest and Derby is regarded as the biggest one.
The two teams take on each other in the East Midlands derby. The colour of Derby’s shirts is white, whilst their shorts are black. It has to be noted that the club was founded in 1884 by William Morley. The Rams competed in the European competitions four times, but they did not record a notable result in the European Cups. The club’s chairman is Mel Morris.
