Our prediction for this Ligue 1 match:
Monaco will look to build on a 2-0 win over Lyon when they host Lorient to their Stade Louis II on Sunday afternoon. Les Rouges et Blancs are on a four-match winning run at home ground, and they are likely to adopt yet another attack-minded approach. The likes of Radoslaw Majecki, Benoit Badishile, Myron Boadu, and Krepin Diatta should miss out with injuries.
Les Merlus, on the other hand, desperately needed a win against Lens, and they managed to get one, with the team escaping the relegation zone. Lorient, though, are not regarded as good travelers, and we do not believe that they are capable of grabbing something from Sunday’s clash. The good news for the visiting team talented forward Dango Ouattara is back from international duty, while all Diarra, Lemoine, Abergel, and Morel continue to miss out with injuries.
Highlighted Player (Cesc Fabregas):
Born in Arenys de Mar on 4 May, 1987, Cesc Fabregas began his football career at Mataro. After spending two years at Mataro, Cesc joined Barcelona in 1997 and six years later the Spanish midfielder signed a deal with Arsenal. Fabregas played for Arsenal for eight years (2003-2011) and in 2011 he turned his dream into reality and returned to Barca.
In 2014 the 29-year-old footballer joined Premier League side Chelsea. Fabregas won the 2012/2013 La Liga title with Barcelona, while lifting the 2014/2015 Premier League trophy with Chelsea. Cesc did not win the Premier League title with Arsenal, but he helped the capital club lift the FA Cup trophy in 2005.
On the other hand, the Chelsea midfielder recorded much better results with the Spain national team as he won the European Championship trophy in 2008 and 2012, while winning the FIFA World Cup title in 2010. Fabregas made his debut for la Roja in March, 2006.
Highlighted Team (Lorient):
Founded back in 1926, Lorient is a French football club that competes in Ligue 1. Les Merlus have yet to win the Ligue 1 trophy, but they did well to go all the way in the Coupe de France in the 2001/02 season. In the title game, Lorient defeated Bastia thanks to Jean-Claude Darcheville’s goal.
The same season les Merlus made it to the Coupe de la Ligue final, but Bordeaux proved to be a big catch (0-3) for them in the title game. Lorient welcome their rivals at Stade du Moustoir, the stadium which can hold up to 16,392 spectators. The colour of the team’s home shirt is orange with a little black on it, while white is the dominant colour of their away jersey. In the 2002/03 season Lorient represented France in European competitions.
Les Merlus, though, failed to impress on their debut in the UEFA Cup as they were beaten by Denizlispor in the round 1 double-header.
