Our prediction for this Ligue 1 match:
Angers and Lens take on each other at Stade Raymond-Kopa in what is expected to be one of the most exciting games of Sunday’s program. Angers are on a four-game losing run in the Ligue 1, and it should come as no surprise the odds for away win have been dropping. Midfielder Jimmy Cabot, who limped off with injury in a 1-0 loss to Nice, is unlikely to feature against Lens.
Les Sang et Or, on the other hand, head into the match following a 1-1 draw with Lyon. Lens want to move closer to the Europa League berth, and they should take advantage of Angers’ poor form. All Corentin Jean, Wesley Said, and Jonathan Gradit are out of contention through injuries, speaking of the away team. In the first half of the season the two teams played out a 2-2 draw.
Highlighted Player (Romain Thomas):
Romain Thomas is a product of Brest football academy and he made three appearances for the first team during his spell at Stade Francis-Le Bie. Thomas spent the 2008/2009 season on loan at Pacy Vallee-d’Eure and in 2010 he moved to lower-league side USJA Carquefou.
After spending three seasons at the club the 193-cm-tall defender, who is very good in the air, moved to Angers. Romain Thomas quickly established himself as a first team regular at the club and you should know that he made 36 appearances for the Ligue 1 side in the 2016/2017 season.
Despite playing as a defender, the French footballer often finds the net and he scored his first goal for Angers on September 27, 2013 in a 1-1 draw with Tours. The centre-back, whose preferred foot is right, was born in Landerneau, France on June 12, 1988. Romain Thomas’ contract with les Scoistes expires on June 30, 2019.
Highlighted Team (Lens):
Based in the Pas-De-Calais department, Lens is a French club that plays home games at Stade Bollaert-Delelis. The Sang et Or are well known for their red shirts with yellow stripes, while black is the dominant colour of their away jersey.
The club was founded back in 1906 and the Sang et Or originally played in green and black shirts. Speaking of their home ground, Stade Bollaert-Delelis can hold up to 38,058 spectators. The venue was opened back in 1933, and renovated during the 2014/15 season. Lens did well to win the Ligue 1 trophy in the 1997/98 season, with the team finishing the process level on points with second-place Metz.
As a result, the Sang et Or represented France in the Champions League group stages the following season. The club’s biggest European success came in the 1999/00 season when they made it to the UEFA Cup semis. Lens have won two Coupe de la Ligue trophies as well.
