Our prediction for this Netherlands Super Cup match:
After winning their 36th Eredivisie title last term, Ajax will look to kick off the new season in style when they take on PSV in the Dutch Super Cup. The Amsterdammers did well to sign the likes of Steven Bergwijn, Calvin Bassey, Francisco Conseicao, and Owen Wijndal in the summer, but key attacker Sebastian Haller is no longer part of the team. As always, all eyes will be on Serbia captain Dusan Tadic, who is likely to prove a handful for the opposition back-line.
PSV chiefs have been active in the summer transfer window as well, with all Guus Till, Luuk De Jong, and Xavi Simons joining the club, to name just a few. New boss Ruud van Nistelrooij has big ambitions for the upcoming season, and given PSV’s attacking potential, a high-scoring affair is on the cards at Johan Cruijff Arena. In their last meeting in the Super Cup PSV rolled over Ajax 4-0, meaning that the hosts are hungry for revenge.
