Our prediction for this MLS match:
Columbus Crew and Montreal, the two playoffs-chasing sides, face each other at Lower.com Field in what is expected to be an interesting midweek game. Columbus are undfeated in the previous nine league fixtures, with the team eyeing their third consecutive clean sheet in the process. The Crew played out a goalless draw with New England Revolution at the weekend, but it has to be noted that Caleb Porter’s troops failed to turn their dominance into victory.
Steven Moreira is back from suspension, while both Artur and Marlon Hairston are major doubts. The Canadian outfit, on the other hand, have been in a fine form of late, with the team beating both Toronto and DC United, while playing out a goalless draw with New York City. Since both sides looked solid at the back in their last league matches, we are tempted to put our money on under 2.5 goals. Both Tomas Giraldo and Ahmed Hamdi are sidelined with injuries for the visiting team.
Highlighted Player (Maximiliano Urruti):
Maximiliano Urruti is an Argentine footballer who was born in Rosario on February 22, 1991. Urruti is the product of Newell’s Old Boys youth school and he continued playing for the Argentine club at senior level. After scoring 12 goals in 57 appearances in the league for Newell’s, the prolific striker joined Toronto FC on August 16, 2013, making his MLS debut two days later.
Maximiliano Urruti played for the likes of Portland Timbers and FC Dallas as well before joining Montreal Impact in 2019. On March 3, 2019, he played his first match for the Canadians against San Jose Earthquakes. Despite producing fine performances in the Major League Soccer, Urruti has yet to make his debut for the Argentina national team.
His main position is centre forward, but he is capable of playing as an attacking midfielder as well. His contract with Montreal Impact should expire on December 31, 2020. It has to be noted that he won the MLS Cup with Portland Timbers in 2015.
Highlighted Team (Montreal CF):
Club de Foot Montréal is a Canadian soccer team, but they compete in Major League Soccer. They are a member of the Eastern Conference and they have been participating in the major league since 2012. Montreal welcome their opponents at Saputo Stadium and the capacity of the club’s home ground is 20.801.
The construction of the stadium cost CA$17 million and the venue was opened on May 18, 2008. The Saputo family invested $7.5 million in the construction of the stadium and, as a result, the venue was named Saputo Stadium. Montreal CF did remarkably well to make it to the CONCACAF Champions League final in the 2014/2015 season, but Mexican team America proved to be a big catch for the Canadian outfit in the title game.
Speaking of the Canadian championship, the Impact won their third domestic trophy in 2014, with the team beating Toronto FC in the final of the tournament. Montreal Impact play their home matches in blue and black shirts and black shorts, while the colour of their away kit is white.
