Our prediction for this League 2 match:
Prenton Park will host Saturday’s football game between Tranmere and Gillingham, the two teams who faced each other in some interesting encounters in the past. Tranmere are still eyeing their first League Two win of the season, but they did well to eliminate Accrington on penalties in their EFL Cup opener. Even though al Davies, Jolley, and Morris continue to miss out with injuries, home win should be considered as the hosts are likely to leave their hearts on the field this time out.
The Gills, on the other hand, quickly bounced back from the day-one defeat to AFC Wimbledon, with the team beating Rochdale (1-0) in the league, while eliminating the Dons in the EFL Cup on Tuesday. Anyhow, we are tempted to put our money on the hosts this time out as they want this triumph more than the visitors, who will be without injured trio Jefferies – Maynard-Brewer – O’Keefe in Saturday’s showdown.
Highlighted Player (Liam Feeney ):
Liam Feeney is an English footballer who plays for Tranmere Rovers as a midfielder. Born in Hammersmith, England on January 21, 1987, Feeney started his senior career at Hayes, and after scoring eight goals in 46 appearances for the club, he moved to Salisbury City in 2007.
The experienced footballer for several other English clubs as well, and, no doubt, Blackburn Rovers, Bournemouth, and Bolton Wanderers are the most notable ones. Nowadays Liam Feeney plays for Tranmere Rovers in the League two on loan from Blackpool. His main position is right wing, but he is capable of producing fine displays as a left winger as well.
Feeney made his League Two debut with Tranmere in a 3-0 loss to Cheltenham Town on September 19, 2020. His preferred foot is right, and he has a contract with the Whites until May 2021. The experienced winger has a dual citizenship (England/Jamaica).
Highlighted Team (Gillingham):
Founded back in 1893, Gillingham FC are an English club that compete in the League One. The Gills are well known for their blue shirts with black stripes, but they wear white shirts with a little yellow and blue, and yellow shirts when playing on the travels.
Priestfield Stadium is the club’s home ground, with the venue holding up to 11,582 spectators. Gillingham City have been playing at the stadium since the club’s foundation. Speaking of the club’s main rivals, over the years the Gills have built up a rivalry to Swindon Town. However, it has to be noted that Swindon fans do not consider Gillingham their biggest rivals.
Former goalkeeper Roy Hillyard is the Gillingham City player with the most appearances. The English shot-stopper played for Gillingham City from 1974 to 1991, making 655 appearances for the club. Brian Yeo is the team’s all-time top scorer, netting 149 goals in 387 appearances for the club from 1963 to 1975.
