Our prediction for this Europa League match:
Roma will be aiming to bounce back from a heavy 4-0 loss to Udinese when they face Ludogorets at Huvepharma Arena in their Europa League opener. The Giallorossi experienced all sorts of problems at the back at the weekend which is pretty rare when it comes to Jose Mourinho’s teams, but the Romans are surely capable of beating Ludogorets in Razgrad. Summer signing Andrea Belotti is pushing for his first Roma start, with Uzbekistan international Eldor Shomurodov eyeing a spot in the starting line-up as well.
All Darboe, El Shaarawy, Kumbulla, Wijnaldum, and Zaniolo have been struggling with injuries of late. Ludogorets, on the other hand, faced no difficulties in a 6-0 crushing of Hebar at the weekend. The Bulgarian champions aim to give fans yet another reason for celebration, but seeing that Roma are desperate to make amends for the massive Serie A defeat, away win should be considered. There are no fresh injury worries in the home team.
Highlighted Player (Sergio Padt):
Sergio Padt is a Dutch footballer who plays for Eredivisie club Groningen as a goalkeeper. Padt played for the likes of Pancratius, Hoofddorp, and Ajax during his youth career, but he did not see any game action with the Amsterdammers at senior level.
Following short loan spells with the likes of Haarlem and Go Ahead Eagles, Sergio Padt signed a deal with Belgian outfit Gent in June, 2011. After making 55 appearances for the club in the Belgian top flight, the Dutch shot-stopper joined Groningen in the summer of 2014. Sergio Padt did remarkably well to win the KNVB Cup with the Green-White Army in the 2014/15 season, with the team beating PEC Zwolle in the title game.
The Groningen goalkeeper, who was born on June 6, 1990, has five caps for the Netherlands U-21 team. Speaking of his senior career, he received two call-ups for the national team, but has yet to make his debut.
Highlighted Team (AS Roma):
AS Roma is a professional football club based in Rome. Roma were founded by a merger in 1927 and they play in the Italian Serie A. Roma’s fiercest rivals are Lazio and it has to be noted that both capital clubs play their home games at Stadio Olimpico. The two local rivals face each other in the Derby della Capitale, which is considered one of the most exciting derbies in the world of football.
The Giallorossi (The Yellow and Reds) have won three Serie A titles (1941/1942, 1982/1983, 2000/2001), while winning nine Coppa Italia trophies. The colour of Roma’s shirts is imperial purple with a golden yellow trim. A number of top-class footballers were part of Roma in the past, but Francesco Totti is undisputedly the club’s biggest legend. The Prince of Rom made his 601 appearances for Roma on 14 May, 2016 when the Giallorossi recorded a 3-1 win over Milan at Stadio San Siro.
