Nantes
Freiburg and Nantes face each other at Europa-Park Stadion in what will be their first meeting in the Europa League. Christian Streich’s men are enjoying a flying start in the Bundesliga, with the team sitting in second place after eight rounds, and they must be high on spirits following a 2-1 win over Mainz. A man to watch in the home team will be Michael Gregoritsch, who scored his fourth goal of the season at the weekend, while Roland Sallai remains in the recovery room.
Les Canaris, on the other hand, experienced all sorts of problems at the back in a 4-1 loss to Monaco in their last league Ligue 1 game, which is yet another reason why we are going to put our money on the hosts. All Fabio, Centonze, and Traore are sidelined with injuries for the visiting side.

Son to a football coach, Andreas, the Freiburg striker Nils Petersen is a physical forward best known for his clinical finishing. A former Bayern Munich striker never got a chance to prove his worth with Bundesliga giants and had to take a long road to prominence which included loan spells at Werder Bremen and Freiburg, before penning a permanent deal with Die Breisaguer in 2015.
Petersen’s impressive exploits during the 2017/18 season helped him get into Germany’s provisional FIFA World Cup 2018 squad although his father Andreas would argue it was his personal influence that helped Joachim Loew write his son’s name in the 23-man list. Namely, Andres Piteresen spotted the Germany manager on a beach in January and decided to ask him about his son’s chances of making it into Germany World Cup squad.
Piteresen was rewarded with his senior Germany cap in an Austria friendly but unfortunately for his father missed out on the final squad for the tournament in Russia.

Founded on April 21, 1943 Nantes is a professional football club that compete in French Ligue 1. Les Canaris are considered one of the most famous French clubs and they had a lot of success during the sixties and the seventies. Nantes won their first Ligue 1 title in the 1964/1965 season and 36 years later (2000/2001) they clinched their eighth (last) domestic trophy.
Speaking of the club’s European success, les Canaris did well to make it to the Champions League semis in 1996, but Italian giants Juventus proved to be a big catch for the French outfit. Nantes welcome their rivals at La Beaujoire-Louis Fonteneau and the capacity of the stadium is 38.004.
