Our prediction for this League 1 match:
Abbey Stadium will host Saturday’s football game between Cambridge United and Bolton, the two teams who sit in the opposite halves of the table. Cambridge United are eager to escape the danger zone, and they are likely to fight tooth and nail against the Trotters. Pacey winger Jack Lankester is pushing for a start after coming as a substitute in the FA Cup draw with Curzon Ashton. Bolton, on the other hand, aim to recover from the FA Cup loss to Barnsley.
The Trotters suffered a 3-1 loss to Oxford United in their last league match, but given Cambridge United’s four-game losing run on home soil, we believe that the time has come for Ian Evatt’s troops to return to winning ways in the English third tier. In their last meeting in the League One Bolton defeated Cambridge 2-0. Both Kachunga and Sheehan return to Bolton’s starting XI after they were rested in the FA Cup defeat.
Highlighted Player (Liam O’Neil):
Born in Cambridge, England on July 31, 1993, Liam O’Neil is an English footballer who plays as both defender as midfielder for Cambridge United in the League Two. O’Neil is a product of the Cambridge United football school, but he played for Histon during his youth career as well.
In the summer of 2012 he joined WBA youth academy, and it has to be noted that he made three appearances for the Baggies at senior level in all competitions. Liam O’Neil played for the likes of VPS and Scunthorpe United on loan as well before joining Chesterfield in 2015.
After scoring two goals in 45 appearances for the club in the league, O’Neil moved to Cambridge United in the winter of 2017. As his mother comes from Wales, O’Neil is open to play for the Wales national team, but he has yet to earn a cap with the Dragons.
Highlighted Team (Bolton):
Bolton Wanderers were formed as Christ Church Football Club back in 1874 and three years later they adopted their current name. The Trotters currently compete in the Championship and they play their home games at Macron Stadium, which was opened in 1997.
Speaking of the club’s trophies, Bolton Wanderers won the FA Cup on four occasions (1923, 1926, 1929 and 1958), but they have yet to win the Premier League title. The Trotters were producing splendid displays in the 2003/2004 Premier League campaign, with the team finishing the season in eighth position in the standings, which is regarded as the club’s best result in the English top flight.
Bolton did well to reach the UEFA Cup knockout stages in the 2007/2008 season; the English outfit eliminated Atletico Madrid in the two-legged tie, but Sporting Lisbon eventually proved to be a big catch for the Trotters.
Nigeria international Jay-Jay Okocha is one of the most notable footballers who played for Bolton and he scored 14 goals in 124 appearances in the league for the club. Bury are considered the club’s fiercest rivals.
