Our prediction for this League 2 match:
Sunday’s football game at Alexandra Stadium pits together Crewe and Tranmere, the two mid-table sides. The Railwaymen have been struggling to find their form of late, with the team losing each of their last three league fixtures, and given their shaky defence, home win should not be considered. To make things even worse for the home side, defender Luke Offord is banned for the match following his sending off in a 3-1 loss to Carlisle United.
The Super Whites, on the other hand, aim to build on back-to-back wins over Doncaster and Barrow. Tranmere have been showing signs of improvement in festive fixtures, and we predict that they will take advantage of Crewe’s poor form. Keep in mind, though, that midfielder Paul Lewis misses out through suspension for the visiting side. Jordan Turnbull, who found the net in the midweek triumph, is one yellow card away from suspension.
Highlighted Player (Jordan Turnbull):
Born in Trowbridge, England, on October 30, 1994, Jordan Turnbull is a professional footballer who plays for Northampton Town as a defender. Turnbull is a product of Swindon Town football academy, but in 2007 he was spotted by Southampton scouts.
Despite signing a professional contract with Southampton, he did not see any game action with the Saints at senior level. The English footballer made no fewer than 86 league appearances for Swindon Town during his loan spell with the Robins, and in 2016 he signed a contract with Coventry City.
Jordan Turnbull spent the 2017/2018 on loan Partick Thistle before joining Northampton Town permanently. Speaking of his international career, the Northampton centre-back has two caps with the England U19 team, and one cap with the England U20. Jordan Turnbull, who is used as a left-back as well, wears the number 6 jersey at Northampton Town. His preferred foot is left.
Highlighted Team (Tranmere):
Based in Birkenhead, Merseyside, Tranmere Rovers are a professional club that compete in the League One. Tranmere were founded back in 1884 under the name of Belmont FC, with the football arms of cricket clubs Lyndhurst Wanderers and Belmont coming together. The club recorded their first win later in 1884 as they outclassed Brunswick Rovers 4-0.
Nowadays Tranmere Rovers play their home games at Prenton Park, the venue which can hold up to 15,567 people. The Rovers wear white shirts and blue shorts in home matches, but back in the 19th century orange and red were the dominating colours on their kit.
Tranmere fans see Bolton Wanderers as the club’s main rivals, but they have built a small rivalry with Chester City and Everton as well. The Prenton Park outfit did well to make it to the League Cup final in the 1993/1994 season, but Aston Villa proved to be a big catch for them in the title game.
