Our prediction for this Ligue 1 match:
Buoyed by a 2-0 win over Ajaccio, Lyon will look to move closer to the Conference League berth when they take on Brest in the Ligue 1 round 21. Les Gones face yet another must-win situation, and they are likely to go all guns blazing at Les Pirates. All Lukeba, Pollersbeck, and Reine-Adelaide should miss out with injuries, but there are no suspended players in the home team.
The visitors, on the other hand, recorded a morale-boosting win (4-0) over Angers at the weekend, but given their anything but brilliant away record (2-2-6) in the 2022/2023 Ligue 1 campaign, we predict that the hosts are going to pick up all three points from the match. In the first half of the season Lyon defeated Brest 4-2, which is yet another reason why home win should be considered. With no fresh injury worries to report, Eric Roy is unlikely to make changes to the team that crushed les Scoistes.
Highlighted Player (Karl Toko-Ekambi):
Karl Toko Ekambi is a professional footballer who plays for Ligue 1 club Angers as a striker. Ekambi was born in Paris on September 14 1992, but he does not represent les Tricolores on the international stage. The 183-cm-tall attacker plays for Cameroon and it has to be noted that he made his senior debut for les Lions Indomptables in a 3-2 win over Burkina Faso back in June, 2015.
Ekambi came as a substitute in the 77th minute of the match, replacing fellow attacker Mengolo. The Cameroonian footballer played for Paris FC during his youth career and he made his first-team debut for the capital club on April 26, 2011 in a 2-2 draw with Beauvais. Karl Toko Ekambi scored 21 goals in 66 appearances for Paris from 2010 to 2014 and at the end of the 2013/2014 season he joined Sochaux.
After netting 25 goals in 72 appearances for the club, in the summer of 2016 Ekambi signed a contract with Angers which expires on June 30, 2020.
Highlighted Team (Brest):
Founded in 1950, Brest (Stade Brestois) are a French football club that compete in the Ligue 1. La Team Pirate welcome their opponents at Stade Francis-Le Ble, the venue which was opened back in 1922. The capacity of the stadium is 15,931, but on August 8, 1986 21,619 watched the game between Brest and Olympique Marseille.
The club’s home colours are red and white, with the team wearing black kit when playing on the travels. Brest’s third kit is white. La Team Pirate, who made it to the French Cup on two occasions (1982/83 and 2014/15), have rivalries with fellow clubs from Bretagne: Rennes, Lorient, Nantes, Guingamp and Vannes.
The likes of Bernard Lama Stephane Guivarch, Paul le Guen, David Ginola and Frank Ribbery are the most notable footballers who played for the club. Bayern Munchen legend Frank Ribery scored 3 goals in 35 appearances for Brest in the national championship.
