Abbey Stadium will host Saturday’s football game between Cambridge United and Oxford United. The U’s have been struggling to find their best form in 2023, with the team slipping down the standings week by week, and, as a result, their League One status is in great danger. Mamadou Jobe remains on the sidelines with injury, while Shilow Tracey is pushing for a rare start.
The Yellows, on the other hand, collected only one point in total from the last five league matches. Since the visitors are eager to return to winning ways as well, we are tempted to put our money on both teams to score. Forward Tyler Smith is widely expected to return to Oxford’s starting XI after he was rested in the 3-1 loss to Plymouth. Born in Cambridge, England on July 31, 1993, Liam O’Neil is an English footballer who plays as both defender as midfielder for Cambridge United in the League Two. O’Neil is a product of the Cambridge United football school, but he played for Histon during his youth career as well.
In the summer of 2012 he joined WBA youth academy, and it has to be noted that he made three appearances for the Baggies at senior level in all competitions. Liam O’Neil played for the likes of VPS and Scunthorpe United on loan as well before joining Chesterfield in 2015.
After scoring two goals in 45 appearances for the club in the league, O’Neil moved to Cambridge United in the winter of 2017. As his mother comes from Wales, O’Neil is open to play for the Wales national team, but he has yet to earn a cap with the Dragons.
