Our prediction for this MLS match:
Sunday’s football game between San Jose Earthquakes and Colorado Rapids. The Earthquakes aim to build on a 2-1 win over Vancouver Whitecaps, and the bookies see them as favourites to beat the Rapids in front of home fans. Carlos Akapo is pushing for a start after sealing the victory against the Canadians, while all Niko Tsakiris, Nathan Cardoso, and Judson are sidelined with injuries.
Colorado, on the other hand, have yet to find the net in the new MLS campaign, and given their difficulties on the road, we are tempted to put our money on San Jose Earthquakes. All Jack Price, Jonathan Lewis, Diego Rubio, Dantouma Toure, and Aboubacar Keita remain in the recovery room, speaking of the visiting side. In their last encounter at PayPal Park San Jose Earthquakes defeated Colorado Rapids thanks to Nathan’s goal, which is yet another reason why home win should be considered.
Highlighted Player (Diego Rubio):
Diego Rubio is a Chilean attacker who signed his first professional deal with Colo-Colo. Rubio, though, made only eight league appearances (scoring three goals) for the Chilean outfit and in 2011 he moved to Europe, signing a deal with Primeira Liga team Sporting Lisbon. After playing only 11 league matches for the Lions, the 179-cm tall striker joined Spanish club Valladolid at the age of 22.
It has to be noted that during his spell with Sporting Lisbon he was loaned to the likes of Pandurii Targu Kiu and Sandnes Ulf. On September 1, 2016 Diego Rubio signed a permanent teal with Sporting Kansas City and he has been playing for the MLS club ever since.
Rubio was born on May 15, 1993 in Santiago, the capital of Chile, and he made his debut for the Chilean national football team in June, 2011 against Paraguay. His contract with Sporting Kansas City expires on June 30, 2017.
Highlighted Team (San Jose Earthquakes):
San Jose Earthquakes are members of the Western Conference of Major League Soccer. The Quakes have been participating in the league since 1996 and they won their first MLS Cup trophy in 2001. Back then San Jose outplayed star-studded Los Angeles Galaxy in the title game, but it has to be noted that they scored the winner in the extra time.
Two years later the Quakes managed to repeat the success, with the team beating Chicago Fire in the 2003 MLS Cup final. Avaya Stadium is the home ground of San Jose Earthquakes and the capacity of the venue is 18.000. The construction of the stadium cost no less than $100 million and the venue was opened in March, 2015. The club’s home colors are blue and black, whilst the Quakes wear white and red shirts and white shorts when playing on the travels.
Chris Wondolowski is the club’s biggest star and he has been playing for San Jose Earthquakes since 2009. The USA ace has 121 league goals on his account ahead of the start of the 2017 season.
