Our prediction for this MLS match:
Soldier Field will host Sunday’s MLS game between Chicago Fire and Minnesota United. The hosts are undefeated in the previous three league fixtures, but they are still without key midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri, who has yet to overcome a leg injury. All Victor Bezerra, Justin Reynolds, Federico Navarro, and Jairo Torres remain in the recovery room, but there are no suspended players in the home team. The Loons, on the other hand, aim to build on a hard-fought 1-0 win over St Louis City. Since Minnesota United have yet to suffer a loss in the new MLS campaign, we are positive that they will share the spoils with Chicago Fire at Soldier Field. Both Ryen Jiba and Bakaye Dibassy are out of contention through injuries, but they should be the only absentees in the visiting team. Adrian Heath should stick to the 4-4-2 formation.
Highlighted Player (Xherdan Shaqiri):
Another impressive player who emigrated to Switzerland, Xherdan Shaqiri is a midfielder with excellent technical qualities, very strong in taking players on and creating chances for his teammates, while also being a danger from set pieces. The Serbian-born footballer formed an excellent midfielder pairing with Granit Xhaka at FC Basel, before making a high-profile move to Bayern Munich in the summer of 2012.
Shaqiri went on to prove a great deal of potential at Allianz Arena, scoring 11 goals in 52 Bundesliga matches, but he decided to leave in search of first team football, first joining Inter Milan and then moving to Stoke City. It was at Britannia Stadium that the attacking midfielder rediscovered his form and if he continues playing at such a high level, it won’t be long before he returns to the biggest stage.
Even when he was not playing regularly at club level, Shaqiri would always reserve his best performances for the national team, as witnessed by 17 goals in first 50 caps. The midfielder was especially impressive at the 2014 World Cup finals, where he scored no fewer than three goals.
Highlighted Team (Minnesota United):
Based in the Minneapolis-Saint Paul area, Minnesota United are a professional soccer club that will compete in the Western Conference in the Major League Soccer from 2017. The Loons will make their MLS debut against Portland Timbers on March 4, 2017 and, no doubt, they have big ambitions for the forthcoming season.
Minnesota United are the sixth team to join MLS from a lower division and they will welcome their rivals at TCF Bank Stadium. The capacity of the stadium is 52.525 and it was opened in September, 2009. Bill McGuire is the club’s owner and he is on a quest to turn Minnesota United into a top-table side in the Western Conference.
Adrian Heath will be in charge of the club in the 2017 season and it has to be noted that the English tactician used to train the likes of Manchester City, Everton, Aston Villa and Espanyol in the past. You should know that the club was founded on March 25, 2015.
